Oh, heh... no fancy lenses yet. Probably going to upgade to a D20 soon and then maybe get a zoom lens and probably a macro as well.

I'm using a bone stock Digital Rebel (Cannon EOS). It's a great camera but I can't reccomend it for serious photography due to the long warm up time it has. I missed a lot of great shots due to this. I would follow in the footsteps of tomwiththeweather and get the D20 if you want the same great optics and a much better software setup.

My objectives as a photographer are slowly emerging... I definately enjoy photos that play with perception and I'm leaning in that direction as I work. Generally though it's pretty much whatever I come across that I think looks neat.

Thanks for all the nice comments! Feel free to critique crappy ones as well if you have the inclination. I always like to get some sense of which pics people think are lame as well.

If you don't want the bulk of a tripod, a monopod will be a little smaller and lighter. It doesn't have the stability of three legs, but between its one leg and whatever you're leaning on, your pics will be much clearer. The monopod I have costs like $35.

Combine that with a fast lens, like one that can do f/1.8 to f/1.2, and your low light pics will be much clearer.

Thanks for the info. I'm considering switching to a Nikon soon because I am getting frustrated with the warm-up time of the rebel and I would love to be shooting 8.1mp so I'll probably hold off buying any new lenses for now. I'll have to find me a monopod tho.

I love the first one, it's not a very charismatic pic, but the content really excites me. The idea of how man and nature collide in big cities is compelling to me. Very similar to this pic I took last year... I think I like the viewer to convince themselves it was photo manipulated in some way and then hope they discover it's not. I guess perception is neat to me?
