UE3 is going to blow away Source for machinima when it's released. Kismet, along with Matinee, are the most powerful director/scripting tools I've seen in a game engine.
Machinima probably wouldn't so as popular with Source if it weren't for Gary's mod.

Besides making them easier to view, resizing them down would have improved the sharpness. As they are currently, they are somewhat out of focus. Resizing would have helped.

Haha, mine used to look like that until I found Google Reader. Then I compressed all my RSS feeds into one list.

Google Homepage with Google Calendar, Google Reader, Gmail, Weather, and Wikipedia widgets. Add a Dictionary.com and a Google Maps widget and you'll be complete.
Best default homepage ever.
Also, Google Desktop Search. Skip the panels, just use the search function. Find anything on your computer way faster than just using the default Windows Search.

I guess I've been spoiled by Unreal, which will let you rotate, scale, non-uniformly scale, and move the pivot point of just about anything without any hacking.

Tom - am I missing a joke or are you unaware you can rotate models in Source?
I've not messed with Source enough to place a model, I've just made some brush rooms. Maybe it's not rotating I'm thinking of but scaling. Can you not scale a model in Source?
Quote from von*ferrethe has an unreal bias

I sure do.

I first heard mine in the Tool song "Third Eye". It's from an audio clip of the comedian Bill Hicks doing a joke about tripping on acid.

Look at some other "space tech" games for some architecture ideas or even some of the other futuristic-themed maps that come with UT2k4. Make note of how these maps use brush shapes to make a solid and interesting room and then look at how the lighting and meshes compliment the brush shapes. Look at how the textures are used on floors, ceilings, and walls.
