Unreal Engine 3 seems so crazy popular because all this eye candy they are showing to us that I'm thinking of making a console that actually is a hardware running UE3 and all the games are just mods, I would make millions, SO WHO IS WITH ME!

Having fun trying to be cynical guy? Actually, UE3 is becoming popular among 3rd party developers because its features, flexibility, and content creation pipeline are unmatched at the moment. Game developers know better than to be wow'd by some good high-res art when it comes to considering engines to license.

Well I think they're cool anyways. Here are some random pictures from the last few weeks.

I know a girl back home who is into cosplay. Scary as hell stuff. You get a big convention center room, throw in a few hundred people in various anime/animal costumes and watch them roleplay and act like tards. People making out in cat suits and such. /me shudders

Second thing is, that it looks like the Unreal3 engine can't handle so many polygons as I thought it could do.

No, it's more like the hardware running that demo is probably close to minimum spec and as a result you can't just put as many polys on the screen as you'd want to. I can't remember the last time an actual game engine had a poly limit for models. As long as the hardware you're playing on is fast enough you can cram in as many polys as you want.

Everything at E3 was prerendered except Epic's stuff and some of EA's stuff. Killzone was all CG.

    Hey now, we ran real-time.

Sorry, what I meant was, all the next-gen stuff at E3 was prerendered except...

IMO, engines are considered outdated when the developer stops working on them or supporting them. Features, such as HDR and parallax, are modular in such a way where they can be coded into nearly any existing engine's rendering pipeline, if the engine is fairly up-to-date with the latest DX9 standards.

Is Doom1's engine outdated? Certainly. Is Doom3, Source, or UE2 outdated? Nope. Some may look better than others, but that doesn't mean anyone of them can't be used to create great games.

And yes, comparing a realtime renderer to something like Brazil is retarted.
