It's getting mediocre-poor reviews from what I hear.

Mario 1 got me started on consoles. Kings Quest got me started on PC. Wolf3D got me started on level editing.

Cool, but I'd take a slightly larger 60gb normal Ipod over it.

My biggest time wasters in the past have probably been WoW, Morrowind, Zelda, UT2k4, Doom2, with the worst of those being Morrowind and WoW. I swear those games are like crack.

Maybe I wasn't paying much attention or whatever but I didn't find it annoying. Besides, a few ads here and there doesn't ruin the movie for me like it does for some people. I actually found the Xbox ad kind funny and interesting.

Yeah, I recommend the 3DBuzz videos. Go out and buy UT2k4 ECE edition. I have that book and it seems like it would be a decent, but basic, reference for some one who knows nothing about UnrealEd. I personally have never needed to open it.
Also try sites like:
http://udn.epicgames.com/Main/WebHome - Epic's own tutorial website
http://wiki.beyondunreal.com/wiki/ - BU's wiki, some good stuff here but it's sort of a mix of UE1 and UE2 stuff.
http://chimeric.beyondunreal.com/ - Decent Unreal Scripting tutorials
There are many more helpful sites, but those few come of the top of my head at the moment.

I love the sunset pics. Snow rocks.

How much is brush and how much is static mesh?
Looks good, btw. Very UT.

You should probably also mention that these would work fairly kickass in a UT map.

Downloaders are kind of pointless with broadband.

Draw it out on paper first that way it's easier to plan and erase and redraw. Play through it in your mind as you draw. Try to imagine the gameplay mechanics of certain areas. DONT focus on theme/art. Make something that looks absolutely ugly but plays like a dream. Once it plays good, then make it look good.

I liked it for what it was. I could care less about the product placement. It wasn't like they'd pause, turn to the camera, and say "Drink Coke!". Shoot, I probably missed half the adverts.
It wasn't the best movie or anything, but it entertained me and that's all that mattered.

"Breaking News: Epic gets Carmack!"
Lol, the day that happens, you'd see mass suicides on ShackNews.

Yeah. I really loath using it. I mean, how actually do you define what's next-gen or not? Normal maps? DX9? Not being able to run on today's hardware? Bla.
-
2 years sounds about right. Next month it'll be 2 years ago that I started working there. While nobody really said much to the contractors, we'd hear rumors that someone was working on something that wasn't UE3 and was next-next-gen.

Quote from FrieChamp
Of course their engine department isn't twiddling thumbs, the UE3 technology lock must have been a while ago considering the count of licensees they have distributed the engine to by now.
No they are still working on UE3 to polish it up and add a few remaining features and tools. The day it reaches lock down is that day seven years from now when no one is using it anymore.
And as I said in my above post, it's not a whole department working on it, it's one guy doing r&d and probably programming up a few ideas.

Yes, Level 7: Dead Simple.
Blaa I new it was too easy.
