I can't believe you named the map after that advert.

Make the light_spot's Constant really high, mike. I'm talking at least 100000. Really gives the cast light a neat, intense sharpness.

That greyscale Baptist church shot is stunning!

I wish it were true.

It was a half-hearted joke, guy! At no point was I being serious in my 'pseudo-D3-hate'.
Anyway, back on topic: I like the visual design of that beast, but in-game it wasn't all that thrilling to fight. Same attacks at the Manticore really, much like the blue-fireball things are similar to the imps. Would have been great if its only weak point was the teeth monitor, and as you hit it the teeth fall out. That would be special.

D3, you are so weak! At least stand by your woeful opinions instead of limping back to popularity like a crippled puppy.

I don't really get why Mike goes through all thoose steps. You can do tiling with just 1-2 steps. Thoose tricks he did might be smart, I dunno, but I can't see any purpose with them.
To get a better texture as the end result? Tiling is one thing, but there's always something else to tweak.

The consensus is that it is indeed real. I'll definitely be getting one, if only for Project Gotham Racing 3.

Well holy shit, Mike has a heart after all!
Really appreciate it, guy.

Great tuts., thank you amigos.

Now, I don't consider myself a texture artist, far from it - level design is my game - but I have a good digital camera and an even better eye. So, I feel taking source photos and converting them to game textures is a viable enterprise for me.
Problem is, all the good stuff needs to be made tileable, and I have no idea how to do this. Any of you texture impresarios got any tips, tutorials or resources to help me out? I really want to strive towards custom content rather than chestnut HL2 stuff, and this is the first step.
Below is an example of the kind of pictures I've taken that need tiling:
