Gah, Donald Sutherland or no Donald Sutherland, how can you live with the camera controls from hell?

How the hell can people live forced to use either the arrow keys on the KB or the scrollbars to scroll the map, EVERY OTHER editor uses the hold down RMB to scroll, which is MUCH FASTER and MUCH BETTER.

Or you could just use the mousewheel. Which is fine.

No you can't, tell me how I can scroll sideways using a normal mousewheel... also, its annoying needing to roll the wheel if you are suppoed to scroll long distances.

You miss my point. With the mousewheel, you simply zoom out rapidly and then zoom back in where the mouse pointer is located. It's just as quick for me as scrolling.

I'm a big racing game fan so the PSP wins out by a mile for me...even if I haven't actually bought a racing game for it yet The problem is I can't decide which!

Goth tripe? That's a bit off...

and yes, the vase is for real.. and the bottles and the 'train'

Only joking, sir. Playing to the old stereotypes.

But seriously, encore. There's a mountain of map-trash out there for you to dissect.

    Is that vase for real?

Gotta say D3, you've suprised me. Your threads are usually goth-tripe that makes me want to scratch out my eyeballs with mint-flavoured toothpicks while vomiting onto my record collection, but this is a fun enterprise!

    Keep it up!

Firmware 2.0 comes on the included disc, Mazzle. You may as well upgrade if you can't homebrew.

As for me, I'm too poor to buy one, especially as I'm saving for a 360 come November. I'll probably buy one next year.

Only if you mean default Radiant, which is utterly crap. GTK Radiant is like a more stable Hammer with patch meshes and better vertex editing. I do hope it'll have Quake 4 support down the line.

Hmm. The idea with the many different sub areas was so you could easily find exactly what you were after, and only that. I guess that is not working out right.I did consider to use more colours like a traditional periodic table, but I think the strength of the design is its simplicity, hence the drama and high contrast of only, red, black and white...

The font I use everywhere is either Hattenschweiler or Impact, for consistency. But I have heard people complain about that font more than once, particularly if they don't have it installed. Perhaps a change is in order...

Yeah, Impact. Aesthetically I think it's an ugly font, but regardless, it's simply hard to read.

Very unique, amusing design, but the sub-page font is fucking horrendous mate. Stick to something bigger, clearer and more sensible.

Also, perhaps roll some of the areas into each other to make it more efficient to browse. Not so sure of this suggestion myself, but prospective viewers don't want to waste time searcing 20 or so sub-areas just to find out whether you're what they're after.

    Hope that helps.

  • How could 'we' solve a problem like this?

    • Tequila
    • August 29, 2005 at 12:28 PM

Right. It can't really be stopped, and it's a shame, since behaviour such as this makes talented mappers nervous to share source files.

I don't think it exists, sadly.

Also, skdr, snow is not possible using a basic entity. We would have to use embers which, quite frankly, look crap.

I'm looking forward to it, because a ) it's fantastic multiplayer fun, and b ) I've always wanted to create a DoD map but missed the HL1 boat (so to speak) for it.
