I'm sure that if parallax mapping was coming with Lost Coast, you would have heard about it.

Exactly. A lot of tech sites how fairly comprehensively covered what to expect with the Lost Coast.

The minute I saw 'FTL' I could only think of System Shock 2's 'Faster Than Light' story aspect.

Concepts are looking great, especially that 3rd crimson sketch.

Valve are promoting modular updates to the Source engine, starting with HDR. Leftover code and documentation suggests that at some point parallax mapping will be added.

What exactly does quadratic do? Valve are notoriously stingy with the definitions.

That's just silly. If I wanted to see ugly old veteran war hero's with a bad mustache and a flex suit, I'll go to the park.

It's just such a weird transition though. First he's the cool silent killer in an enemy compound. Then he's devouring poor animals in the jungle, and now he's smacking down opponents with his cane. Just goes to show that developers do evil deeds with game sequels. Props for being original though.

Well, it was Big Boss in the jungle, not Snake, but yeah.

Must be the effects of cloning aging him so rapidly, as Ocelot doesn't look that old.

Here's an example of why people often refrain from asking for help.

I wasen't thinking of the one that didn't know. I was thinking of those that did answer, but didn't know. I should be as basic as making a brush in hammer (well, almost as) that a texture should not have its suffix in the material shader.

And, ok, I do fell that people should refrain from asking some questions. I mean, I can see how one could ask if the shader was correct, but them, would he need to ask?

Sorry for not remembering the exact nuances of Valve's material system.

Truth is there are a lot of helpful programs out there that do this job for you, saving time and effort, which is probably why a lot of us are unfamiliar with the exact command lines.

Sope, Atari didn't make any of the Unreal series games, and UT2k7 will be published by Epics new publisher, Midway. And EA didn't make BF games.

And BIS made Operation Flashpoint, Codemasters only published it.

Sorry to destroy your list csharp. :/

Capcom - for their quality and consistency. And for giving me the Resident Evil franchise.

Konami - multifaceted, multitalented company. For me, they've given me the genius Metal Gears, the fabulous Silent Hills and of course the Pro Evolution Soccer series. Such contributions cannot be understated.

Valve - rising from obscurity in 1998 with the superlative Half-Life, the game that changed my PC gaming life. Didn't do half-bad with the sequel either, and now they seem to be going from strength to strength.

Ion Storm Austin - gone but never forgotten, especially Warren Spector. They created Deus Ex. Enough said. Oh, and Thief 3 was fantastic too.

I can't really think of a 'favourite' number 5. There's plenty of quality out there; Namco, Raven, Id, BIS, DICE etc., but none I'd really love to include.

Just a guess, but maybe remove the $ from "$basetexture" "skybox/$sky_mike_01bk.vtf"?Mind you, this is just a guess.

Actually I'd try removing it from '$sky_mike_01bk.vtf'.

Again, this is just my guess.

    Solid.

That's the best description I can give you. Gameplay is meaty and enjoyable, and quite fair, but I still haven't got my head round cyberspace yet.

The single provided map is nice in places, but on the whole slightly barren. Definitely room to roll out the custom content.

Overall, a promising mod demo. Worth a download.

Fiendish Freddie's Flying Circus started it all for me, when I was 4 and received the holiest of the holy: a Commodore 64. You can see the cheeky chap as my avatar, taking it back to grass roots.

Half-Life 1 got me into level design. Including Hammer on the disk was a stroke of genius.
