Well the key members behind Goldeneye and Perfect Dark went on to form Free Radical, who make the Timesplitters games. If you play one, you'll see they make no effort to hide their roots

True.
Sadly, Free Radical and Rare are diluted forms; their output just doesn't come close to the brilliance of their combined golden days.

I'll be heading home, building my new PC, working on some essays due early January, enjoying Christmas with the family and celebrating New Year's with friends.

that was the texturing and lighting, the original architecture was by bob bettenberg. to clarify.I did the best I could to keep credit where credit was due, so if anything might not be clear let me know and I'll fix it.
Don't want to take the claim for anything that I'm not fully responsible for.Yeah, I meant the little square lights!

I thought you might have created this area. Those lights just remind me of Eclipse.
Good work all round.

Yeah. Perch the church on a hill like in RE4 - so you have to work your way up to it past graves and burning torches.

http://spong.com/detail/news.asp?prid=9331&cb=0.9383007As it turns out, this whole story was a fraud.
How ironic for Spong to report that.

Oh so he took a break from two years of heavy and loud criticism of all developers other than himself to make a game?Interesting.
Yeah, yeah, simmer down.
He's said a few questionable things if sources are quoting him verbatim, but that doesn't take away from him having a big part in the creation of (arguably) one of PC gaming's masterpieces.
I enjoy his work, and there's a sense of trust that hasn't been marred by the good-but-lacklustre Deus Ex 2. So I'm looking forward to what he can come up with.

You could have spared us the pain of seeing this again by not commenting on an ancient thread.

When you move or clone brushes in the beta, you have to drag from the diagonals otherwise it goes off-grid.
As for performance... well, the new Hammer is so much faster for me with a complex map. Odd.

Perhaps one day the SDK will be seperate from online Steam. One can dream.

Installed but haven't tried it yet.
I'm already upset though, since it requires F.E.A.R.'s files to be taken out of the archives for editing, doubling the folder from 5Gb to 10Gb. How archaic.

'Skewing tool'? What?
Anyhoo, chances are Valve are aware of it. It's a beta after all.

Not bothered at all really, only thing I'm interested in is the enhanced version of Quake II that comes with Quake 4...
Yeah. Co-op 4-player Q2 over Live is... special.
I was originally going to get one on Dec. 2nd, but now it's just not feasible/I can wait.
It is a must-buy though, for PGR3 alone.

It's certainly smart, but forget all these new features. I love it simply because before my map was dense enough to make 2d navigation a stuttering chore. Now, with the same map, it's absolutely silky smooth.
Honestly, previewable lighting, and we're golden.

I'm in my 2nd year of my English & Film Studies course at uni. It's great stuff, met lots of good people throughout my time here, but I get the feeling I'm not doing as much as I should be - wider reading, and all that.
I'm also feeling pretty burned out by constant computer usage. I feel my eyes, if nothing else, could do with a break.
And I bum kids.
