budgets got almost nothing to do with it
if that was the case we wouldnt have modding to start with, the problem is setting unrealistic goals that you'd need a big budget to achieve. Also no matter how much a group of developers love a game it's harder to remake a game than it is to start your own ... most developers get their motivation from new experiences not recreation of old ones and modding is all about motivation
It's not impossible but it will take sweet time to get anywhere. It's also a single player mod, the only ones I've played that are half decent would be 1 or 2 man teams making short episodes. MP is a breeze to mod compared.
All the more reason if this can be pulled off it's one hell of an achievement, but it certainly has the bookies against it.
All the more reason to go for episodic releases for each chapter imo.As you said, modding is all about motivation, and nothing motivates more than releases and the praise and fame that follows.

Its watching the troll hunter in the cinema while on the phone with a buddy and you're telling him about the whole movie scene by scene...

That was an unexpected, but very welcome, turn of events

As a very generic generalisation I usually divide gamers into two main categories; you have the multiplayers and the singleplayers. Not saying that some people can enjoy both ofcourse

Anyways, the multiplayers usually go pvp'ing or raiding in WoW, while the singleplayers usually love the questing and to some degree the raiding part of WoW. You can generally check which type you are by looking at your character screen. If you have multiple (2 or 3) level 85's by now you're most likely a singleplayer guy (you love exploring and the experience of a story), while if you have just one hardcore pimped level 85 then you're a multiplayer guy (you love to pwn nubs).
The singleplayer people usually dont play WoW after they've leveled up a few character. They end up with two choices; either grind achievements in WoW or grind achievements on the Xbox (aka play other sp games)

the only important one is power I think. You should just google the manual for your motherboard and it should be explained there (which wire goes where). Each wire is easily identfiable (they have text on them, like PWR for power).
if you dont plug them in the buttons on your computer case wont work. (Which is why the power one is important:P).

He'll still have to wait 3~4, maybe 5 months (max) before he can get this new shiny ipad (and thats IF apple stays with their time schedule).
Or he can enjoy his ipad right now, and sell it in 6 months and purchase this new shiny one if it really is that much better

let me clarify. I'm in no way demanding updates, I'm just worried. Worried that this is another Nightwatch. I remember people saying they were working on NW and it was going to be finished up until the day they werent and NW was just shot down.
So I just want to know, are you? Are you nearing completion, in all honesty? or are you thinking that this is another 5 years in the making at the current speed? And if so, dont you think you should probably gather up the team and discuss other options. Like releasing episodically (HL was divided into chapters, so this fits) instead of trying to polish a 10 hour long game in one go?
I mean think about it, if you release each chapter on its own you'd get that super boost of team morale where work would get done so quickly each time you released and each time you'd most likely get enough work done to release the next iteration, and before you know it you've released the whole thing.
And you'd love the whole experience
Just my 2cc.I'm not complaining that its taking too long, I just dont want to see the whole mod die
But if I'm alone in all this, then I guess all my worry is for naught
But if I'm right, then my hope was that this thread might act as a wake up call. -
