Looks good to me (mind you I have no idea what I'm talking about), the only weird thing is the videocard, I've never heard of the manufacturer. Last time I skimped on money on a graphics card it had a critical meltdown, so I'd say spend some extra dollars/euros and get a card from a high profile manufacturer.

Yeah pretty much this. It probably looks like a good bargain, but once you start to get blue screens after 1 hour of game time every fucking time you are going to regret purchasing something from an unknown manufacturer.

I'd say the same thing applies for ram, I've never heard of g.skill but they seem to be reputable according to the internets.

Sorry for all the bad news around ESE guys, and welcome to the new Mapcorians (It took me a while to get to this update, sorry about that. Feel free to edit the thread too )

I dunno, I disagree with that. The LDs and environment artists on NS2 are all external, and work from home, and they've pretty much done all of the art for the game.

as far as I know, UWE is pretty special in this regard as they let people on their core team work abroad. At our company we have two guys who produce art that live abroad and they only produce source material (psd's and fbx's + animations) that we then have our in house artist throw into unity and do stuff with. It works for the off site people because they don't have to learn a new engine.

But I would not be content with this as learning a new engine is super awesome to have on your cv.

skjalg i was actually thinking you're earning too little, most programmers (even game programmers) earn at least around 30k (dkk) as a starting wage. but yeah, different countries n shit.

Yeah I know I am, just look at what my last job was giving me But this salary is just enough to make my payments, and I really love what I do so I am content.

Salaries are kind of a hard thing to look at in such an international way because what your money gets you varies significantly between territories. I'm paid pretty well in the UK but I know the amount in USD wouldn't impress many Americans. If I were to move over there I could command a much higher USD salary but from what I've seen I wouldn't actually be able to buy that much more with it over there because shit is priced differently. Kind of like how I could get a huge salary boost simply by working in London, yet I'd be paying so much more for everything else it'd get me no net benefit whatsoever.

Yeah, this exactly. I know 300 000 NOK sounds like a lot, but it really isn't compared to almost everyone I know here in Norway. Theres even a couple of guys I know with no education at all who have higher paying jobs than me.

But most of them talk about their jobs like its prison, so theres that

I know its taboo to talk about your salary, but not in Norway, so

I currently earn 300 000 NOK at Rock Pocket Games. At my previous job at Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace I earned 420 000 NOK. So yeah, making games isn't really paying off for me financially.

But oh man am I enjoying my work compared to my previous jobs

I liked D2 alot so I played some of this game and it was fun and then I tried to keep playing with my brother but his level was too high so he made a new character and we had to do all the parts I had done over again and that was ok but by the time we got where I had left off it was bed time and then the next day I had stuff to do and so on and so forth.Someone should make a game like this that can be played with other people even if everyone can't devote a thousand hours a week.

Aah yes. This is a big challenge for every level based multi player rpg.

BTW I think the Jor-El version is much more classy. Apparently both have been playing somewhat randomly in cinemas.

Dont you mean the gladiator version?

Battlefield 3 is a really great game, and it should be no surprise it sold so much.

Hopefully Battlefield 4 wont just be a copy but will bring something entirely new to the franchise.

I'm not really a big fan of the idea of an other futuristic BF game. It would be cool to have one that's set in the near future, like 10-20 years from now....

I actually think it would be cool if they went all medieval ages with swords, axes, shields, archers, catapults and trebuchets, With all the destruction going on and stuff it would be awesome. Ofcourse they could spice it up a bit with a wizards-expansion just to complete the clichés in video gaming, but even so I think it would be awesome.

I completely lost respect for her after she slept with her boss. Before that I thought she was fine. After that I too started to resent her.
