Id find it a positive point if you would apply to my company. I always like it when people show me they understand what they do rather than do something but dont know why they do.

Who, me? And whats your company, the one who makes TCoS? Or what have I missed here?

yes, thanks. But what would you suggest we do when it comes to showing that we know what good design is? Write a whole 5 page long article about how we made the layout and why we did this and that? I'm not sure if anyone would bother reading that :/

I think it's going to be more and more difficult for a mapper to create a greater amout of impressive maps. To create an stunning map you need at least some custom content, because nobody gets excited by a city17-looking map, no matter how well it's done. And that's the big problem, because current gen (HL2, Doom3) mapping plus the creation of custom textures and props is extremely time consuming.

There are very few HL2 (or CSS) maps with custom content. Maybe the best of them is de_corse by hessi and the guy worked as far as I know over 1 year on it.

This is excactly what frustrates me too, but then again, you learn so much by doing one level these days...

if you look closer, you'll see that I have... I played around with it some, I think that I ended up with a scale of 3.. 4 got too harsh and 2 was, well.. not noticable.. Maybe i should pitch it up some more?

Or are you talking about the closes column, because I havent gotten around tom making a normal map for that one yet, and it really needs it :]

Many thanks for expressing an interest in our Level Designer position.  Unfortunately you haven't quite got the background / experience the company in question is looking for, and as such we won't be able to submit your details to them.

It is extremely tough to break into the games industry at the moment - most clients are requesting a minimum of 2 years’ experience from potential candidates who will therefore have worked on at least one published title, or graduates with a 2.1 or higher in a games-specific degree.  There have been quite a large number of studio closures all over the UK, which have flooded the market with experienced candidates looking for a new job, making things even more difficult for the talented but inexperienced people trying to get a foot in the door.

My 3 first props ingame. The skins suck (except perhaps for the bucket:P), they look more like some parchment or scroll than rock :/

i think its really cool that you tried and followed almost all the crits to improve the model. pretty hard to find people like that ^^most of the time they say things like "yeh im gonna do that on the next model" just to make the same mistakes again.

i bet you learned quite some things on poly-distribution on that one.

yeh, just wanted to say that, really nice job

Thanks man, and you're completely right... Even though im a bit tired of that silly ol' bucket right now, I did learn quite a few things... plus I'm starting to get the hang of the whole low poly procedure modeling business :]

And after doing 4 different UV's on that bucket alone I think I've learned a few tricks there too

edit: Todays model.. (Another cylinderquickie) Do you guys think 18 sides is too much for a pillar?

    - Streetlights don't burn in a war city. There are other options to provide light in a war city (fires, search lights, flak fire etc.). U use all this stuff in your map already. Why not use it completely for the lighting?

I think you hit it there, that was my first thought too..
