Well duh, why it has to be "realistic" setting? I'd suggest you to make it cool, not placed somewhere on earth with boring setting. Make some cool stuff that attracts player and makes them go "whoa!".

That's what the explosions and stuff are. Makes the setting more interesting and cool.

I remember Gloom, my friend played it alot and I didn't understand a single piece of that game, anyway...

You guys should design the game for platform that gets attention, Half-Life 2. There are no good reasons to start this multiplayer modification for FarCry, no one will play it... On HL2, you have a GREAT player base waiting for your modification...

IMO you should make it with night/evening lighting. With that you can play with some lights like lightspots and glows. Could add some nice stuff to the scene and you might not see the repetitive textures...

    Looks good so far tho...

    Quote from kleinluka

the movie had this huge buildup with cruise escaping from the aliens and saving his kids while he's at it, constantly on the run... while the aliens slowly took over. i was expecting a similar buildup for the end of the movie. then all of a sudden BOOM VIRUS INFECTS THE ALIENS. BOOM, ALIENS ARE DEAD. BOOM THE END.

QFT. Ending was like "DOH! It's over?"

  • SIN2 to be released via Steam

Well, Valve already said that they're developing Source further and you can see this happening with the recent HDR tech included in Source engine...

Also, there are parallax mapping lines in HL2 base code so I guess this would be something to look forward in the future. It's a base to develop further, its not like they're going to raise hands and give up with the current tech. They're developing it more and more and I wont be suprised if we see dynamic shadow a'la D3 in Source someday...

  • SIN2 to be released via Steam

Whoa this came from nowhere, suprise indeed. Ritual licensed Steam and is going to release SIN2 thru Steam this winter

    Quote

Ritual Entertainment's long-awaited Sin 2 is to be released episodically over Valve's Steam digital distribution system, with episodes lasting around six hours each to be released "every three to four months" for around $20 (£11.38) an episode.

    Quote

The Valve-Ritual relationship is to go even further than that, with SiN 2 being developed using a tweaked version of the same Source engine that powered the legendary Half-Life 2.

Good to hear that other developers than Valve is taking Steam and online distribution seriously. This raises a question, is it time to Valve develop P2P sharing system to Steam so ppl can seed updates and games to other users, lowers bw costs and content server stress..

Anyway, SIN2 on Steam and HL2 engine. Discuss
