rofl i knew this would start up somthing
. i would say valve isn't a real company i would want to go for because after their aftermath stuff is finished what will they do? im sure they dont' need to hire that many people and turtle rock studios does 90% of the css maps. i think hessi should get a job at ubisoft
.What does any company do after their projects are done? They start new ones. Except Valve can self-fund whatever the hell they want to do while a lot of other independents have to work out terrible deals with publishers that give them crap for funding (exceptions exist, of course, but not that many). Valve already is working on other projects; they're capable of juggling people around (most studios can and do), and they'll hire anyone with talent if it gets them working under their roof - and at ridiculous salary.
their entire company is going to hawaii, all-expenses paid, early next year.
Valve = mega moneyhats and incredible freedoms. there are plenty of kick-ass companies out there, and you don't have to like all of them, but to shaft Valve the respect they deserve for what they've pulled off is just silly

3 new ones, 1 tourney/DM, 1 DM, 1 CTF
DM map is a re-make of q3dm6; the CTF map was a tag-team effort between myself and Lunaran.

thanks everyone!

I think he's cuter in my pictures... I'll post those later today.
still gotta settle in at home; we just got back yesterday evening and gotta get him in for a quick checkup today (routine thing since we went home a little earlier than usual since things were going well). -

yeah, with what izuno said, Relic has handily proven they can make kick-ass RTS games. Mix Relic gameplay + that sort of style teaser, and happiness abounds!

I got through it in 10 hours and I thought I was taking it slow.
Of course, I find 8-12 hours to be the sweet spot for most games; only the occasional kotor or wow (or ratchet, now that I think about it) has me embracing 20-30+ (615,507,000+ in the case of wow) hours. So no complaints from me.

With all the chomper love, here's a thing Chris made when browsing some random development shots...

I still laugh my ass off every time I see this...

None of my work is actually visible at any point, since I did the story and script (which I understand was mangled a bit after I left
), but here's the educational action/platformer I was on before starting at Raven, posted by Mr. Chris Holden over at Polycount:http://boards.polycount.net/showflat.ph ... #Post86965
Not sure what the full distribution plans are, but it has been successful in classroom testing and hopefully will become a commonplace learning tool in schools nation (and maybe world)-wide!

I fiddled around with these; they look pretty spiffy in-game.

Quote from D3ads
is the Xbox 360 version of Quake II any different to the old PC version in terms of graphical quality and missions?
Well, it'll run in widescreen, but that's about it. Also supports up to 4-player co-op now, I think (I know co-op is there, but I'm blanking on the player limit). I think it's split-screen or system link for MP, though, and no live.
Was surprised how good it feels on the controller, too... id engines always hold up well when it comes to movement and control.

-
If so, how do you like the system? What games do you have? And what's your live tag?
I absolutely love the system so far. The new Live stuff is fantastic, and the achievements that at first seem kinda silly are such a great way to build friendly (or perhaps not-so-friendly
) rivalries vs. friends. Also keeps a very gamey aspect to things, which I dig.Marketplace is cool, too; the live arcade is a neat idea. I'm already hooked on Geometry Wars and the bejewled and zuma were great starts to get my wife really into the system as well. Should be a great draw for casual gamers, especially as more stuff becomes available. Hexic shipping on the HD was also a great idea; it's a very good timekiller for those more relaxing moments. Can't wait to see more stuff show up here.
And the controller, god I love this thing. Chargeable wireless is the new hotness, and the revised form of this one is a thing of beauty. It's not a huge change from the S-controller, but is a perfect fit and a joy to play on. Transitions well to the backwards compatible games, too.
Currently I have Quake (of course), Kameo, Perfect Dark Zero, and Project Gotham 3... will be adding Kong, Condemned, and DOA4 as soon as possible. I'm having more fun than I expected replaying Quake for all the achievements (which of course I can horribly exploit, but meh
). Quake 2 feels fucking flawless, and I don't feel bad saying that because I had no involvement with it being put on there and didn't try it until I brought the system home.PDZ is ok, certainly not a bad game, but I find it kinda clunky and the second level with the constant fecal drum and bass drove me mad. the VO also makes me cry... Chandra is a female and more annoying Strauss, and anyone who has played Quake knows that's a hell of an achievement.
Project Gotham I didn't plan on getting, but got a free copy in a stash of stuff from microsoft at work and have had a blast playing it... now just gotta find time for some races against guys from the office.

Kameo is my favorite by far. Cool style and fun gameplay... the warrior forms are great. Almost would call it more of a puzzle game in a way, but as a compliment. Very well based around the progression of gaining the warrior forms and using each one throughout the course of the game. Plowing through a thousand or more trolls on horseback also is worth a few points.
My tag, if anyone cares to partake in some gaming goodness or achievement (read: e-penis) comparisons: SquirrelOKungFu
