trackmania at lunch at work, lots of wow on the weekends, and in between splatterings of geometry wars, cod2 360, Empire at War, and as of last night God of War, the damn coolest game I've ever played, even if I only had time for 45 minutes of it. If you don't have God of War yet, and you have a PS2, the new price point leaves no excuse to not have it.

oh, hey, there it is. John Scott sent an e-mail about it yesterday.

He actually asked me about it a while back and I volunteered, but never heard from Ben. I wasn't here before he went off to Radical, though, so he might have just stuck to people he knew personally? *shrug* But I'd hoped to be involved, if it's any consolation

ah, okay, I was sort of skimming the articles and this thread and missed it was the quotes causing the issue. Fair enough.

So wait, did BIA's ads have gameplay footage in them? I can't actually remember, I haven't seen any of the ads recently. If not, does any of this also apply to you guys (or Ubi, I guess), or is it all just focused on the COD franchise so far?

I know ATVI did something similar with the first X-Men Legends, hiring Blur to put those ads together. But then for XML2 the ads used actual footage from the cinematics and then finished with clips of gameplay. So that I'm ok with, at least.

Ken made this crazy track the other day where you start off ridiculously high in the air and hit a leap right off the bat, then have to spin around midair to take a vertical track chunk straight down... hard to describe, but it was pretty impressive. Love the crazy shit like that.

Will have to check these out

I had a good experience talking to a guy from this company right before I started at Raven, but it was just as I was getting the offer that we were in discussion. You get info on companies if you're contacting them directly.

I probably would have stuck with it if my current arrangements hadn't worked out.

  • Red Cross condemns use of emblem in video games

    • February 10, 2006 at 4:43 PM

Shack had a good Q&A on the subject... It's not as completely wacko as it initially sounds, and they're concerned about its use in more than just games (including unauthorized use on first aid kits and such).

    http://www.shacknews.com/extras/2006/02 ... dcross_1.x

Daano, that comment about medics is covered, too - medics wear them under the Geneva convention as a representation of the red cross, with the specific logo selected by whatever nation they represent.

For Quake, I assume id was one of the TX developers approached already, as we did the very much public domain (like thousands of years old public domain) caduceus. I would just hope for a game like Brothers in Arms there could be a common ground reached respecting that the depiction in the game is representative of those who really wear the emblem.
