...I still want to see stuff that looks good so my friends in my life who tell me I waste time playing video games can start to gawk at it.

You know, some retail titles instead of just Live Arcade stuff might be a good start.

Oh, and I echo Fletch on the black pearl flower bit. Except I must hate you for it and seethe with jealousy...

Yeah, looked like call of duty with big beefy squads and giant spider aliens stabbing everything. I approve!

Plenty announced but few have been really seen - check out last year's E3 PS3 stuff, even if most of it was just marketing videos rather than any representation of what the games will be like. Think sequels to all the big PS2 exclusives - MGS, Tekken, Gran Turismo, Killzone, Devil May Cry - mixed in with some new stuff like Fatal Inertia, Heavenly Sword, Warhawk, Lair, etc...

I dug what I saw of I-8 (or whatever the final name will be), whatever the Insomniac shooter will end up as, and it seemed to be actual gameplay no less (it wasn't as flashy as, say, killzone and didn't get much hype).

As DP said on the DoD Forums, give me a reason to get a PS3 without including the words "Metal Gear" or "Konami".

    Naughty Dog, Insomniac, Jaffe, Ueda.

That said, I'm still not holding out high hopes for the PS3 just yet... I'll get one eventually and enjoy some great games on it, to be sure, but I think we all know by now what happens when you take Sony at their word

It seems you can only love one version of Radiant, too... So many people swear by GTK, yet so many others just refuse to go anywhere near it (myself included )

Another problem is that most people that do one thing have little skill in other things. For example a gameplay designer is not an artist most of the times. He does not understand how art works, what is important in it or what to look out for. Yet exactly that person will lay out the base for the visuals ? The basic composition, the theme and setting of the environment and so on ? If a problem arises you are in for an hour long discussion simply to explain the other guy why you need thing a. or b. this way. Simply because the other guy does not has understanding of what you do. That is a huge time loss and it is simply plain frustrating. The problem would not arise if you would do everything yourself and if the other people who work on levels have equal understanding of things.

The exact same thing can and does happen the other way around, too. Designers say "hey, we need this" and get something completely wrong, or get assets just tossed to them without consideration of how they'll work in the level. Not to mention holdups when something that's critical for one level gets bumped down on the priority list behind stuff for other aspects of the game.

blah.. dont know if there even is anyone mapping for d3 engine games here..

    *raises hand*

If you released a set built from that, I'd take a stab at a map with it.

co-op defend + 5 minute timelimit + infinite enemies + infinite lives = mayhem. And quick 4 kill/4 second and 30 kills w/out death achievements.

The only thing I found a little disappointing was the lack of cover functionality in MP like there is in SP. Not a game-breaker for me, but I think I would have had even more fun playing like that. Maybe Gears of War MP will have it, at least.

Mojo: Yeah, we had frag limit of 50 and 30 minute timers, heh. Though it started going really fast when we put the drone on them Bring even numbers to level out the teams!

Love it. Had a great round of team DM/coop with 3 other guys from work for a few hours tonight, and there's at least 2 more picking it up this weekend. Single player's fun, too, though I'm a bit awkward at it yet. Looking forward to hammering through more of it over the weekend. Not quite sure yet if it's my favorite on the 360 so far, but it's right up there.

We didn't do so hot on the campaign stuff the first time around, a guy with a rocket launcher fired it into a railing and took out himself and another guy out within the first 30 seconds... then we went back to the team dm stuff, where my teammate and I discovered the drone first... wiped the floor for a couple rounds on a couple maps before we told the other guys Good times, though.

Anyway, that aquaduct/stair leading up to colossus 3 messed with me too, fell down like 10 times, too me quite a while to get past it, really annoying ~~

Yeah, that sucked. There's like a 2 minute turnaround between making a jump attempt, failing, and making the next one. Didn't help that I'd shelved it for a while, so I was more awkward than usual with the controls.

I finally managed to get Shadow of the Colossus to not break on me last night and powered through the next 3 colossi... I'm only up to number 5, sadly, but I got sucked right back into this one. Got a little frustrated with the jump setup leading into #3, but that fight alone more than made up for it. I still see a bunch of weird glitches in it, though. In addition to the showstopper I kept running into (player/horse would freeze mid-stride, all other controls reacted normally but left a frozen motion blurred dude at the center of the screen - one time the horse broke free and left me floating there while running around in circles around me), I saw a bunch of spots where the world just didn't draw and I was getting triangle edges and all sorts of badness like that.

The game is absolutely incredible, but it's a damn shame it wasn't done for a better piece of hardware. They stretched it, and it really shows

I'm planning on a unique texture for it... we'll see how the normal map process goes and if I can hack together anything or find someone to do it for me.
