Holy crap man! How many games you have?

192 PC, though not all are represented with individual boxes (some are collections, and collector's edition boxes aren't up on that shelf though I think I could fit them in front of the older boxes) and 44 xbox in that shot... not counting 20-30 GC, 25 or so PS2, and about 34 X360 titles. I need help

kfs: good thinking framing posters. looks much better with the framing than with curly corners and ripped edges. why havent i thought about this before... damn

Haha, it works well. I have waaaay too many posters and too few frames though. Have a framed/signed X-Men Legends 2 poster (which is badass, btw) and for moving I piled most of my other posters into those two frames. Probably won't actually hang them up until I get myself a larger home office with more wallspace in a house.

Just rearranged... some stuff to sort out on the desk yet (and it got messier with some new equipment I just set up) but otherwise it's the hotness:

Settle down, guys; keep it civil. I like being a mod of this forum and never having to do jack, let's keep it that way!

I'd actually be highly amused to see a pile of rugs over a broken up chunk of floor. Make it happen!

If you don't, I will... need to get back to my INS map after all

In the second shot, whatever tore up the floor looks like it got the best of the rug, too

Is $330,000 a lot when moving in the US? That wouldn't buy you much at all in the UK. Even £330,000 wouldn't buy something that a you'd expect a man like Moore to live in.

It'd cover maybe 25% of a nice house in the San Fran area, but seattle-area housing is expensive as hell so if he can sell his current house he's probably set for a while anyway Moving a family can be pretty expensive; I racked up about $6k just between two apartments from Madison to Dallas including shipping my wife's car and flying her down here. I imagine with a large house to a large house it's pretty ridiculous.

I should clarify quick: the first link is the portfolio main page, and the 3 images represent the 3 categories - professional, independent, and wip (decided to nuke that section to keep the site a little easier to navigate). The second link is a current layout for an individual map/project, which now has 6 screens instead of 3 (and much better ones in WIDESCREEN to boot!).

It's interesting you mentioned the horizontal alignment; I tried running those vertically down each side with the text area (which will include the description, general specs, and download links) in the middle but didn't like it as much... the more I think about it that might actually be an approach to try. I do like the row of 3 across the top, but then I don't know what to do with the bottom 3 images or the text stuff - the site as a whole is too wide for just a text description filling that whole thing. Maybe the description section could cover two of the image columns with the specs/download taking the right side? Hmm.

So there's some new colors on the site. Meh?

Also, working on ideas for some portfolio layouts; how do these look?

Odd sizing for images 1024x576 almost like the bottom of a 1024x768 screen got chopped off to hide a 3dmark bar that was at the bottom of the screen

1024x576 is 16x9, standard widescreen ratio. All my new shots are 1024x640 to match the 16x10 ratio on my new monitor. Perfectly normal.

  • Job interviews somewhere far away

Well, yeah, there's still some common sense involved. The last few interviews I've had I've worn regular gaming stuff like my HL2 shirt or an X360 long-sleeved t-shirt (the most comfortable shirt EVER)... but the adage of being "that guy" that wears a band's shirt to their own concert holds true here, I think.

Try to dress at least business casual, be confident but not arrogant, and remember that they're not only testing your skills, but your personality and how well you fit in with their team.

You know, I've never liked the dressing nice for an interview, and thankfully I found an industry that doesn't give a shit either.

Every interview I've had games-related I've just toddled in wearing whatever I'd normally be wearing that day. The people interviewing you are going to be dressed about the same, after all. I wouldn't worry too much about it. They're interviewing you, after all, not your closet.

I'd really try to avoid two interviews in the same day. Some places are just a couple hours, sure, but other companies have longer drawn-out interviews that can last up to an entire day. See if you can work something out where you fly out and interview the first day on one company's expense, then interview the second day and fly out on the other's, maybe? It'll only save them money, after all.

  • PS3 Price Drop in the US

    • KungFuSquirrel
    • July 13, 2007 at 1:23 PM

On top of that, the US price cut is apparently only a means to phase out the 60gb SKU, meaning that after those units are gone the only way you can get a PS3 in the US will be to shell out the same $599 you'd have paid before.

    Wow.

    Who else has played this?

Holy hell is this game beautiful. My jaw literally dropped during the opening sequence, and my wife even stopped what she was doing to watch. The ground detail is of course lower-res, but at altitude the game is utterly stunning. The planes animate crazy smoothly including the engine expanding and contracting with different velocity (with a pretty hot afterburner effect) as well as visible air brakes that open up when you throttle down far enough.

I picked up Ace Combat Zero on the PS2 a while back but had a hard time getting into it... tough to identify targets, felt weird aiming and shooting... none of that here. I had a little trouble orienting myself to where the next group of targets should be, but it was much easier to lock on with the missiles and even get some awesome MG kills. There's a sweet firing mode on the F-16 in the demo where you can insta-lock on about 4 targets and fire off a giant volley of missiles, which is pretty badass.

Yeah. Highly recommend you check this one out.

My personal favorite was back during NW when he claimed BadMofo was his lead LD and that half the team or something was interested in joining him instead and was telling me how awesome the Israeli and Korean PR departments were going to be. This was in late 2003, shortly after the HL2 announcement.

Glad to see you guys are still on track (and hopefully better for the wear); you've got some fantastic content and talent going for you. Looking forward to seeing what you guys pull together.

All right, well played on Killzone... much stronger in motion than the shot. Still looks a little weird to me, but definitely pretty solid. Interested to see how that one turns out.

Ratchet still remains the PS3 system seller for us though

Activision bought RedOctane, the publisher and owner of Guitar Hero, and got the rights for GH2 developed by Harmonix.

Harmonix is now developing Rock Band and set to blow the shit out of GH3, which Activision has farmed off to Neversoft. They're milking the old franchise for as much money as they can before harmonix wipes them off the map with the far better understanding of how to make the game
