Ok, if someone wishes to continue borrowing my copy of Orange Box for the 360, someone needs to make sure links open in new tabs/windows. STAT.

NPD data of US sales showed Crysis only selling about 86k units, which I wouldn't call a total failure but it's certainly not great (Q4 topped that by at least three-fold and was considered lackluster sales). Of course, by comparison to UT3 it's a shining beacon of success, as UT3 managed only about 33k.

Ok, I just cleaned and organized the hell out of this and started adding personal sites for those who have specified them. Formatting and alphabetizing ftw!

My wife's computer is in a similar predicament where she's currently using an AGP 6800 but when I upgrade my video card next I'll probably give her my 7800GTX. Unfortunately, she doesn't have a PCI-E slot on her motherboard, which was from my previous computer.
What I'm probably going to do is get a slightly newer version of the motherboard she already has (which is only about $40) that has a PCI-E slot, then she can take the old card for less than the cost of her 3-month WoW subscription

I'd say give this a shot, get a cheap update or comparable version of your current motherboard with PCI-E (the money you'd save on an 8800GT compared to a higher-cost 8800 should cover it). Then you can have new video card hotness and a BIG component of your next full upgrade that you can use right now. Your CPU is still decent, memory might hurt in some games but clearly your video card is the big bottleneck right now.
Just make sure your power supply is up to the increased drain from a new card, they tend to be beasts.

I don't see much good coming of this. Activision is probably the most shameless in terms of wanting its devs to crank out the same franchised shit year after year. You know they won't want Blizzard to do anything other than something with the name Starcraft, Warcraft or Diablo for the next 10 years.
With the amount of cash coming in from Blizzard and Vivendi holding the majority stake in the 'new' company, I'm actually inclined to believe Blizzard when they say it'll be business as usual for them, much more so than when BioWare and Pandemic claimed the same thing regarding the EA purchase.

Enough to put $2 billion in this deal to ATVI's $1 billion.
Curious what this will mean for some of the ATVI-owned studios, they were already closing down and merging a number of them (Shaba, Luxoflux, and Z-axis I think all got closed/merged into Treyarch, as did Gray Matter). IW, Neversoft, and Treyarch are probably gold but the non-LA studios like Raven, VV, etc. don't seem to get as much love.

I got a little past getting the blues in this game but didn't get far beyond that.
Also, early on I failed to kill some people so I can't get the good or evil achievement

I feel really bad for you IO guys having your game associated with this, and it sucks to see people taking it out on K&L on the Gamespot user reviews and the like. This is just one of those things that once it's reported, true or not, is going to be a stain for Eidos and Gamespot for a long time. Shame someone else's game will also suffer for it.

Legend was great; I still need to snag Anniversary.

Not stock, but it was done shortly after it shipped. We had a pretty sweet looking implementation about half-done for Q4 that just wasn't feasible to keep in the game.
Direct access to the vfp files for writing custom shader interactions makes a lot of this stuff relatively easy to do in D3.

We had a blast playing Canned Tuna and Turbo for HL1 back in the day. We'd also dick around with our own maps, however terrible they were (this was 2 years before I even though about releasing something, heh) for added ridiculous fun.
I had a stupid map called "airstrip" that used that brush F16 prefab on the middle of a long open runway, and I also couldn't figure out how to make the sky solid (this was pre-compile tools that did it for you) so I just made a teleporter that teleported you to the top of the map, triggered a scream, and sent your gibs raining down on the map below. It was awesome
Also, Soldat was a blast when we played that... Most of our other stuff was standard fare for the time (Q3, UT, TFC, CS).
