Great construction work.. but what's with all the blue and other colours?

I also suspect there may be gameplay landmarking done within the color scheme - Note that everything red looks like it would be critical in a sweet stunt move, and that orange and yellow seems to line what appears to be the accessible zones. If so, simple but damn stylish way to address the issue of clear navigation in an environment like this.

    This look beautiful, btw.

    COD4

    Mass Effect

    Gears PC

    Lego Star Wars: Complete Saga

and still more fun to be had in:

    Assassin's Creed

    Mario Galaxy

Crysis (not installed yet, stupid 'time')

    Tomb Raider: Anniversary

    Metroid Prime 3

I may actually pass on Burnout this month to ease the budget a bit and let myself catch up for a month or so And hell, I still need Ace Combat while I'm at it...

PS3 might be coming soon as well, which would be the 80gb with Motorstorm, then there's Ratchet, Uncharted, Resistance, and possibly Heavenly Sword to hit up as well. Good times ahead!

Well I'm quite surprised it hasn't pulled a Nightwatch yet.

That would have hurt if I hadn't thought the exact same thing

To clarify that: I see a lot of similarities, at least from an outsider's perspective, to where NW was about the time I toddled off to Raven, which I think was in essence the final nail in the coffin for the project (let me ALSO clarify that that in no way means I didn't set in motion many of the issues that led to its demise before that, but that's not for this thread)... and on a project of this scale on this sort of timeline, it's not going to get easier. The entire team has been and is doing great work over this time but it's going to take some real fire in their proverbial bellies (or perhaps proverbial fire in their real bellies) to get this thing out the door at the bar people expect.

I'm excited to see it still going, though; hope they knock it out of the proverbial park. Proverbially. Since I haven't said that enough.

Hey Method, the moss is a huge improvement over what I saw last when you still had the red vine-looking leaves. Between the darker moss texture, the moss overlays on the regular textures, and details like the drooping moss through the middle of that area (best visible in the second shot) you've grounded it into a really cohesive overgrown-looking scene.

I think one problem Crysis mappers are always going to face is making something that stands out. After all, I look at those screenshots above and have a hard time working out whether or not it's just something from the original game (Though that at least says your quality standard is good!).

As far as what Thrik's saying, though, I think the biggest single thing you can focus on to make this map stand out will be overall scene composition.

The first two shots look fantastic, but a lot of that is the Crysis content and rendering. In general it's still a little bit on the jumbled mess of foliage side. The palm trees are all sort of spaced out in a larger number of smaller clusters, which is especially apparent in the third shot. It does sometimes work out this way (see here: http://flickr.com/photos/zimrilim/669726766/http://flickr.com/photos/rps/23373041/ or here: http://flickr.com/photos/kevineschmidt/1351690659/ ). You also could try non-standard foliage placement peppered on the beach to more gradually transition points into the full-on jungly bits, akin to this: http://flickr.com/photos/zachlaben/123439327/

Couple shirts, framed version of the Star Wars 30th Anniversary stamp sheet, The Office (US) seasons 1 and.... 3 (thanks mom...... ), extra wiimote + nunchuk and the nyko wiimote charging station thing... then enough in best buy and amazon cards to fund at least 5 games (nabbed COD4, Crysis, and Gears PC from amazon - leaning towards UT3 and maybe Ace Combat 6 + a tv show on DVD or something from BB). Couple more things on the way, I'm going to guess a bit more in the gift card category but we'll see.

Edit: oh, I also got my wife Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga but that's kinda cheating since I play it too.

And my 5 free HD-DVDs showed up on Christmas Eve. Well timed.

Also, let it be said that Texas is broken. I mostly liked it up until it was 60 degrees outside while I was calling my parents and grandparents and I felt like I was playing some weird joke on them in the middle of September.

Did you seriously just attribute UT3 maps to Midway?

Even though I had the xbox version already I picked up the PC version of Riddick to take a crack at that editor... Ogier, is/was it? Seemed like a cool mix of Worldcraft and Radiant, but I never had much time to get good with it. Nice geometry, now sort out that lighting!

as is known, valve publishs games at steam as well. and I doubt (but am not sure) that NPD includes Steam-Sells.

It doesn't - only major North American/US retailers, actually. I suspect Orange Box Steam sales have been pretty solid as well. 360 version was #5 or something in overall sales in October.

Valve does not publish selling informations. they hint some numbers in random interviews but normally no one knows what the steam sells are like. But afaiheard the orangebox selled about 500k times (but that's only some random number I think I've heard gosting around)

Orange Box retail sales are included in NPD, it did extremely well on the 360 at launch though of course has dwindled since with the other big hitting titles that shipped in Nov.
