Finally jumped back into COD4 last night; it's good but I really don't enjoy the marine missions at all. AT ALL. Just wrapped up the AC-130 mission (I actually wanted to spend more time on the ground with those tracers spiking in from the sky, holy hell).
Also alexroyce I saved your sorry ass (great achievement btw
), but unless there's another farmer I didn't get credit for saving the old dude

Resurrection has mild entertainment value as a cheesy sci-fi popcorn flick but as a continuation to the Aliens saga........

yeah, it's great. I finally picked up the books with some gift cards from Christmas but my wife's been powering through them first.

Just caught up on Heroes season 1, Nip/Tuck season 5, and still need to watch Sarah Connor Chronicles. Also Jericho season 2 started off ok, but I'm a few weeks behind. Definitely not helping their cause

Most importantly the final season of THE SHIELD starts NEXT MONTH.

Just finished Mass Effect.WHEW! Awesome game of pure awesome, with a topping of awesome.
Now I'm gonna complete it on Hardcore and Insane too.
See you in a few weeks!~~
I took a break from that waiting for the DLC; I've spent some time semi-recently trying to wrap up R6:V and playing through Burnout in the meantime. Need to go back and finish COD4 as well, game is soooo good but I started playing it only briefly while I was on my non-stop Mass Effect kick.
Now R6:V2, Condemned, and Smash Bros are all on the plate... this is March, game industry, what the hell?

Sins of a Solar Empire is awesome.
I also re-discovered Galactic Civilizations II thanks to re-installing Stardock Central... damn good stuff.

I can't say that first shot of this latest batch pulls off that well but it's starting to come together - in the first shot you posted before it was tough to see where it was headed, but it's improving quick. I'd pay some close attention to the lighting settings to help; that last shot looks like a great direction but the lighting and fog makes it tough for things like the riverbed and buildings stand out as much as they should.

If it's at least a slight improvement on the first, I'll enjoy it.
If it's a slight improvement or better on the first and includes the chainsaw move shown in this teaser, I shall giggle forth with nerd glee.

I fell that you at Gearbox made some progress with the UE3 since BiA3 ! Keep it up guys !
Not to say Aliens isn't looking good, but if you're going to make the BIA comparison you should at least use a more current representation

Maybe Valve doesn't use Maya 8?
Epic's support of the ActorX plugin they created for Maya only goes so far as the most recent version they use, which is notably out of date. Beyond that, licensees are stuck to their own devices. Licensees who are paying 7-digit figures to use that toolset. There's no instant flip-a-switch-and-have-a-plugin solution for new software packages and development studios are typically resistant to upgrading to them due to cost and workflow impacts. A significant advantage of the general mod community is the available time to do this sort of thing yourself - see Zoner's tools for HL over the stock tools that Valve never bothered updating. Even if it would only take 1 day for someone at Valve to write an exporter that took you 3 as you were learning, if they don't use that toolset or have other more pressing issues it's not worth their time to do it.
Public tools post-release are lucky to get life support at-best. :\
Also I second Fletch re: Algor.

you're up to date phobos, that's how those work

Another option to consider would be inclusion or exclusion volumes though I recall one of them has issues, just not which one...
The biggest problem with the sky light is by its nature there's going to be a visible lighting seam where it changes. The only 'perfect' solution is to make it a lowest common denominator light that fits both your interiors and exteriors and/or manually light your shadows with faked bounce light.

You are going to knock this map out of the park. Huge improvements since we first saw it, everything's coming together really well.
I need to hurry up and order my new system... I'm still holding off on installing Crysis so I can enjoy it properly.

What, no Quake IV?

Seriously, though, the omission of Unreal would have qualified as a capital offense. Well done on correcting it.

Nudged this over to professional recruiting; we'll get you added to the professional group so you can post here directly in the future.

What's the map with all the Doom 3 textures? Is that for a mod?

Wow, this turned into a great page real fast
Awesome work, guys.
