I say teams are not assigned, rather people find their own partners.

The point of this is not to get paid or prizes, its to get known, have fun, and get some proffesional practice.

    Quote from Schmung

Might be nice to let people colaborate on this, to add an extra twist to things. Lots of people are saying they don't have time/motivation/resources so maybe it would be cool if we worked in teams of two/three. Could work with people saying a little about their preferences/how they work/stylistic ideas and then one central person, who is reasonably impartial putting them together in small teams. Would make a nice change from beavering away all by yourself and would hopefully result in everyone being refreshed by other peoples ideas. Of course, it might end up as a total clusterfuck and maybe it's best off as a seperate entity, but I thought I'd mention it and see what you lot thought.

Refreshing of ideas can come from a cabal-like process within each level. Furthermore we are not keeping our projects "secret" so we can always get together and critique and throw ideas out over maps. We can especialy do that after the alpha release.

I'm all for the idea, but lets face it. Level Designers and the people who create the art assetts are not balanced here. I'd say about a 6:1 ratio. Everyone will want to place props, but if we insist on custom assetts that'll be hard.

WIP, obviously I still have to do the metal bars. They'll be curvy and such. Just comment on the paint on the wood, dunno what to do with it since I"ve never tried to do anything like this :X

    whee!

Making a lunch table right now. Got a ton of stuff to do.

Shelves, Drawers, Keyboard Trays, File Cabinet Vertical, File Cabinet Horizontal, Mailbox (For the cubicle wall), Telephones, Flower pots, File Boxes.

Than for outside the Potted plants, benches, lunch tables, and pillars. Just for outside atm.

Plus there are a ton of other assetts I have to make, but this is mainly for the office area and the outdoor balcony lounge.

well for a garbage can I think 34 polygons is just about right. Its not something the player will stop and appreciate as much as other stuff I have planned. But if I designate 50 or less polygons per prop instead of 100, I can have twice as many little details to give atmosphere. While still maintaining the proper ammount of polygons and details to things we want the player to appreciate.

Just trying to do a bunch of lowpoly stuff for hl2. I mean how many poly's ore texture memory is needed for a garbage can that would be under a desk?

thats a hot texture MDS. My only suggestion is remove that big chunk of missing wallpaper and make it a decal due to repetition on a long wall. Other than that i LOVE the colors nice!!!

Which side do you like better for the plastic bag? Or just scratch it and attempt another method?

if thats a wallpaper those decorations would not be a relief, with that kind of shadowing. Instead they'd be flat colors. It looks like an odd relief, so thats why I assume its a wall paper. if it is indeed, remove the shadowing, make it dark, and chip off small pieces and fade areas accordingly. When you look at a wallapper and squint and put your eyes out of focus, it should look like a solid color. At least in my opinion. I wish klien was here cause he could really give you feedback.
