Unfortunately he has a few exploitable safe spots and people are already taking him down, whereas only one person managed to No Miss his previous incarnation. They recalled the boards due to a scoring oversight and hopefully they'll fix him too. They also put the DoDonPachi Green Helicopter back in as a bonus ![]()

I meant GW2 and D3 wasn’t a fair comparison, for the reasons described. Of course it’s valid for people to split off from a company and do their own thing.
I think you have some big and misconceptions about Blizzard. They’re known for working on games for years, finishing them and then working on them even longer through several deadlines to perfect them. They’re known for supporting products for years and years after they’re released, for free. They’re known for their little simple innovations that turn a genre on its head.
Warcraft 3 was not a few extra levels and units on top of Warcraft 2. The mere introduction of hero units changed everything, as did the introduction of items, creeps, shops, marketplaces, mercenary camps and fountains. It removed all the existing units and introduced four races that acted uniquely even down to the way they gathered resources. It added an effective matchmaking service and online ladder. It added and supported effective editing tools for custom maps, etc.
It's painful to see them labelled as a company that just knocks out the same game with a few bells as whistles because it knows it’ll be lapped up by a retarded player base.

I think that's rather unfair. Guild Wars is a PvP focused game that purposely places little emphasis on gear to preserve balance, and has an underdeveloped PvE element. Diablo is a PvE focused game that places emphasis on a rapid cascade of level, skill and gear upgrades and has an underdeveloped PvP element. I don’t really think the two are comparable directly, because within the genre they head in opposite directions.
If you like PvP, Guild Wars will certainly be the game to choose, regardless what Blizzard try to do with Diablo 3's PvP element. But that’s because the core features of Diablo 3 will be about hitting monsters in the dark (or light, so it seems) with your mates.

I sometimes wonder if Kotaku's comments are auto-generated.

I can't wait for the release of

Come on, guys. As long as the first Quill Rat you kill drops a polearm 3 times its size, the spirit of Diablo is preserved.

It was a pretty cool article, though everything that Audiosurf guy said was rather dubious.
Also, all console games do not require the purchase of a HDTV just because Dead Rising does...

Haha cool Tay, I love those kind of games as long as the difficulty doesn't ramp up to Japanese hardcore nerd extents.
Heh, well I’m certainly not going to make the next
. But I think difficulty is one of the genres attractions and a nice way to get replay value from a 30-minute or so game. I made a few decisions to make it like an arcade game, such as the 240x320 resolution (displayed at 480x640), but these have turned out rather lame. So I think I’m going to rethink a few things...

I personally don’t think the change is necessarily a bad thing, but there's no doubting that it's there.

Well firstly, forgive me for being sceptical that a picture closely resembling Arthas surrounded in frost was actually Diablo surrounded in fire!
Secondly, awesome!
I thought the new guy seemed too similar to the Necromancer. But it says in the FAQ they're only having five classes - so I assume the Necromancer and a few others are being rolled into hybrids. I went really fanboy watching the gameplay clips "Here's a barbarian favourite..." "WHIRLWIND?!" "...whirlwind" "OH HELLS YEAH."

I blitzed this in release weekend on Big Boss difficulty. It definitely felt more like watching a film than playing a game, I think I only played 8 of the 18 hours it took me to complete it. But, I still think it was excellent. If every game was like this I might have a problem though!
There is a lot of cutscenes, but they are all brilliantly done, especially
Quoteliquid on the boat and the fisticuffs at the end.
It's not like MGS2 where it's all codec conversations and real-life footage of people walking.
The gameplay itself is more than complete, most of the complaints about it – seemingly by xbox trolls – don't seem to realise if the enemies did track you effectively the whole stealth thing would be rather poor. This conception is thanks to everyone who records themselves putting it on easy and playing like an FPS. You can use people as a human shield and shoot their panicking mates in the face, what do people want?
A lot of people find the MGS humour out of place, but I enjoy it.
QuoteSuch as The PS3 references with Otacon and Mantis. And Akiba literally crapping himself during the first FROGs battle. Immature, but I'm not above that.
I was going to play it through without killing anyone, but on New Game+ you retain all your weapons and get some pretty neat gimmick ones as well. So I think I'll just go for the Assassins Creed outfit reward instead. Stabby stabby.

I loved TF2, but I'm not a fan of a mechanic that makes people behave like idiots on purpose and heavily biases the composition of a single class. They could have at least dropped them in at the same time so it didn’t become Pyro Month.
It's a good arguement that after everyone settles down the additions will make it a deeper game, but it also removes TF2’s accessibility and alienates newcomers.

It looks like the Lich King, Arthas, who is a frost-afflicted guy with blue glowing eyes - you can even see parts of his helmet (oo-er). All the speculation seems pretty 'out there,' in my opinion.
Argh: At least one new post has been made to this topic. You may wish to review your post in light of this.

FrieChamp and Sindwiller both pointed out I was supposed to do something cool for 1,000, so it was an excuse to start work on a project I’ve wanted to do for a while, do some progress and post it up here – however it’s been about 4 weeks and I’ve managed to get very little free time to work on it, and I’m basically learning as I go (first c++ and opengl project, no libraries but SDL, etc) so it’s been slow. Very slow. I'm basically posting it just so I can start posting again

So, there’s not much here. The working title is CGCA and it’ll eventually be a manic, arcade shmup. At the moment it’s temporary Cave sprites and an almost fully functional engine.

The title is "Europes Heroes" and it's about the Americans? You're not going to win yourself any friends with that,
