I think it's fair to assume this has been in development since before gasmask-inventor Borderlands would have been a factor.

Needs to be more realistic and set in the middle east.

  • Oh god. Here we go with the FOV again.

Yes! And besides, who's bright idea is it to have 60 FOV on a 16:10 ratio monitor? Moronic to the max. In my opinion the only reasons consoles utilise low FOV is to help them with their framerate. Lower FOV = less on sccreen = marginally better fps

Or because the FOV is fine when you're in front of a 16:9 TV.

What are you master race members doing playing console ports anyway? You betray your roots.

Consoles are successful mainly because how easy and accessable everything is, so I see no reason to expect change (to onlive etc) if there is a common alternative thats even easier!PC gaming I think will never completely die, just because it's for those invdividuals that don't mind a bit of hassel to get games to work, plus games are develped on PC's so it's "usually" not that much effort to convert.

Hassle like hard drive installs, post-release patches for unfinished games and, let's face it, a higher tendency to crash, has been perfectly emulated on this console generation. I brought Tekken 6 yesterday and it took 30 minutes for me to get into a fight.

If you have to look out for subtleties they are not subtleties. And it’s not been designed with reality in mind first as in some areas there are huge orange arrows on the ground every couple of meters. The first game was a lot more linear but still used the basic tricks: Your path is brightly lit, anything off the beaten path is dark, and you are always heading to a different elevation or silhouette. Whereas in Left 4 Dead 2 there is less lighting contrast and there are a few open areas whose exit is just a doorway or alleyway. Often I'd be waiting for someone to say something to confirm we're heading the right way. But that said, there's only 5 campaigns, you can commit all this to memory fairly easy, which is why I kept schtum.

Well Microsoft did just ban 600k-1m 360's with dodgy firmware! You can't say more anti-piracy than that (link). I think it's more a case that Nintendo don't care too much about copy protection, the games they make money on are aimed at the portion of the market that don't have R4 cards and bugged Twilight Princess saves.

Yeah, that's what I was talking about in my spoiler. It lacks any kind of context, it's a jarring scripted sequence. At best a controversial cheap shot.

Megami Tensei does a really good job of handling controversial subjects just because they build up to them well. It doesn't take a tiny break out from killing monsters to say “underage sex, hurr.” 1up gave Persona 3 an award like “most controversial game that created no controversy,” which I thought was quite appropriate. Kids shoot themselves in the face every 5 seconds, and it's fine.

Ah okay. I just wondered if there was some trick to get out. So if it happens in an online game people don't make fun of me for failing

    Thanks.

Well if it hasn’t happened to you then clearly I must be at fault. Maybe I put myself in the collision to frame Valve, or dreamed it.

After actually playing the airport scene I was spectacularly impassive. You had spent no time infiltrating their ranks, learning about their cause, maybe even building up a little bit of empathy – you go instantly from being ‘hand-picked,’ to civilian death scripted sequence, to dead.

Ghost wasn’t just some dude; he actually had some character, and was in pretty much every mission. I didn’t care that Roach died, because he was some soulless husk for me to occupy, and I automatically assumed I was going to die at the end of every chapter anyway.

You can argue L4D2 has enough extra content, I've played through all the campaigns and it certainly does. But arguing it has more than MW2 is a tad ridiculous. Though I don't think this was ever about what L4D2 had anyway, but L4D1 feeling unsupported and unfinished when its sequel was announced.

I brought Left 4 Dead and the sequel. This is my disclaimer, it feels a bit like saying "I've got a gay friend" before saying something deeply homophobic, but let's press on. L4D did not have enough content. "If I divide the hours I played it by--" Don't even start, you were waiting for that extra content after release just like every one else, as it was promised and expected. Is it awesome? Yes. Do I spend more money on bad games? Yes. But I can see why some people in target demographic weren't completely behind it.

If we must bump this, here's stuff on Indie Games you should buy:

    Squid Yes, Not So Octopus

    Weapon of Choice

    I MAED A GAM3 W1TH ZOMBI3S IN IT

    デッドラGO!

    コロンでジャンプ*

    Arkedo Series - 01 JUMP!

    Miner Dig Deep

    Halfbrick: Echoes

    * This means Colon Jump. I got the Ja mixed up with Sha, and google told me it meant Colon Shampoo. Just thought I'd share that.

I ordered Mushihime-sama Futari and convinced some other people to do the same! I played this in the arcade while I was in Japan and it's really good. I almost brought the arcade board but spotted a good deal for Daifukkatsu and got that instead, so it's really nice to see this getting a console release. I have a Japanese 360 because I love me some shmups, but Futari will be region free and if the import figures are good so will their future releases.

Great, Gamasutra is going to be unreadable for a month.

Once people work out if things like fl0w and Passage are art, the next question is going to be are they games?

    I didn't know you could dumb-down snake.
