That's looking really good guys, I'm a big fan of Indie Games that remember the second part. It'll be interesting to watch your progress, do you plan on running a devblog anywhere?
I do agree it needs a spunkier name, though.

I'm really looking forward to this but, of course, I would be. There's an interview where Shinji Mikami said some of his games (Bayonetta, PN03, Viewtiful Joe, God Hand, etc) didn't resonate well with the west and he was looking to change that. It looks like he sat down and wrote “Russians attack America, cover shooter, gruff space marines” as his western baseline and, after careful consideration, added: “knee rockets, morphing guns, flash kicks, bullet time, slam dunking rockets, and kicking robots in the testicles.”
I'm behind anything that stops me from posting on bnet again.
It's because there's more traction on rock than water. You should try a consistant image of material like marble or polished wood. Don't use ice though, that's dangerous.
The largest market on PC is casual games on facebook, flash portals, etc.
Edit: Wait a minute... thank you powers that be. Nevermind.
Sexiness. With review scores like that I'm hoping it gets more hype.
Then moderate it Minotauro.
And revoke Sentura's moderator status, since his board hasn't had a post for about 3 years, so I can put him on ignore and never have to wonder how a business analysis can look at the sales of a free map and tell me how that collates to console joypads casualising gaming. Thus this will never happen again.
Thread degradation is what happens when someone responds to Sentura's 'arguments.'
While DotA really is the modern-day chess, totally not WC3 with the RTS removed, played predominately by PhD graduates looking for intellectual stimulant, and would turn the average console gamers mind into putty - casual putty - it's hardly 'flourishing.'
Quote from Senturai think it's safe to say it is much more niche than it used to be. this is because the consoles (and their control systems) casualized gaming, leaving the PC as a more unstable or unsuitable platform. the only games that are thriving on the PC are those that would be impossible to play on consoles.
Oh, it's this post.
Console games have got simpler with this generation too, which I guess could be some kind of inverse consolization that people haven't picked a term for yet, or a slight hint that this is nonsense. The games industry itself has decided to start aiming at a broader market, this is not because consoles came along with some new casual chip that simplifies any game that appears on them. You’ll also notice the most successful games on PC are on facebook and flash portals, unless that's the Dualshocks fault too.
Quote from SereniusI wonder how many die hard PC gamer fans would change their tune if they could plug a mouse and keyboard into a console. Rumor has it the PS3 works with bluetooth ones.
Or if they started enjoying other genres? And stopped pretending they are above cart wheeling dogs into the air with a burning motorbike sword?
Every platform has plenty of games to enjoy.
Well, you said it yourself: Everything good in RE5 was done better in RE4 already. But I hope this inspires you to check out other awesome console games in the decades you have missed.
Screw all of y'all.
You need to make something before you can iterate it with playtests. The "theory" is all valid as long as it comes with something practical.
Ninety-Nine Nights should be about a group of negative medieval warriors dressed in negligee.
Me being a jerk aside. I think the most important thing you need to look out for is pacing. If you know the dramatic structure, this should be applicable to pretty much everything: individual chapters, the chapter plan itself, enemy composition, weapon distribution etc. Although, most people don't use this kind of structure anymore, you want to build, build, dip, climax, drop (but don't reset).
When designing your levels out you want to make sure they all build to something and you have something in mind that's going to be the pay off. When I used to design single player levels I always used to just take it an area at a time, if anything amazing happened it was something that came to me when designing the area - but it certainly didn't fit any kind of pacing. You're actually at a disadvantage here because all your reveals and climatic moments are going to be using assets HL:EP2 used already so a weapon or enemy reveal doesn't really work unless you use them in a fresh scenario or add your own content.
I read a very helpful article on this very subject on gamasutra.
I think you need a diegetic narrative. What emotions are you aiming for?
One, two and three were amazing. Four was good until you hit the second loop, though actually not a Silent Hill game in pre-production.
