ahaha oh wow. I remember Syndicate Wars, it was an amazing game, I didn't clock it was that becoming an fps.
Surely anyone who remembers would want another Syndicate Wars and youngins have never heard of it? I guess if you want to make a visceral FPS that's visceral in its visceralness then a franchise is better than no franchise at all... probably same logic behind Not X-Com.

Dayuuuuuum, son. A game that couldn't even be ran on max settings by mortals when it came out looks better on a top of the line PC than a 6 year old £150 console?

Just finished it. The end section was really bad
Decent game, worth the money but not overly amazing for me. I plunk down 5000 futurebucks to help an annoying person in china, and then the quest is finished, and I went back to the annoying person to give them the good news, and they've vanished from the face of the earth.

Maybe she ran away? Maybe she was killed by the Harvesters?
Video Games. The greatest story telling medium since concept albums.

Where would you be on this height scale?

I didn't notice a difference on bosses between normal and hard, but perhaps I was just better.
The room is full of gas cannisters and explosive barrels and you need to throw like 5 of these for him to die. And all the boss arenas have weapons in them or just before.
You should invest in the explosive rounds upgrade and a revolver, it' sold by the merchant in detroit though I can't remember when he stocks it. Just keep all the revolver ammo you find and you're golden.

Four Lions was just on C4. Chris Morris is a genius

I missed Pacifist and that must've been what happened. I have Foxiest of the Hounds though, and I was a bit worried given how vague the description is.
I’m not going to do a third play through just yet, but I could try and get the others I've missed (lame ones like read every randomly significant e-book). I guess the alternative would be to not care about achievements, but I seem to collect them for games I like because it shows I put the effort in, even though nobody cares.
Still, could be fun to go around gassing everyone. Or grabbing the eye augment, chucking concussion grenades/mines everywhere, and putting the fist in pacifist.
Quote3rd boss wasn't such a pain this time because I was ready. Explosive revolver and mines under all the sections he jumps between. "Find me Jensen" *bang*. 'dem bosses, though. I wouldn’t mind if either: they were bigger characters, I could do a stealth route, or they didn’t do this arcadey attack pattern and instant-kill business
Looking back, I wish the augments were a bit stronger. At one point on my hard run I noticed I had six points to spend and had trouble deciding what to get - not because I couldn't think of what I needed but because none of them would really do anything.
I never brought aim and hit everything no problem, and I'm sure the laser dot says it does the same effect anyway. The stealth ones don't really add anything useful. Looking through walls would be great but it drains your power so you just use the radar all game. The battery recharge time was essential, but extra batteries were pointless because the game wants to keep you perpetually at one battery without popping items to prevent abuse (hello cloak + takedown). Silent running has nothing on cloak + crouch no matter how many points you waste. Hacking has way too many augments but becomes your 'dump stat' because you don't like loading save games. Whine whine.

It's alright, I'll just play something else and take a piss on my monitor to get that DSHR feeling

I'm fairly sure Square Enix have the rights to Final Fantasy

The difficulty setting doesn't seem to do anything but enemy damage.
I had no stun gun ammo because I left it where I found it. That weapon is brass.
-
I completed this on normal and started playing on hard. It appears playing on hard only makes the enemies hit harder, so as far as a non-lethal run goes it seems exactly the same. The only part it’s actually affected was
Quotepost-helicopter crash. In the end I decided to just run away.
What I definitely do like is how different things are on my second play through. In regards to the routes I’m taking and how people react. Some things have turned out completely differently.
First two bosses completely bugged out on me this time.
QuoteFor the first boss I had no weapon because of some awesome forward planning, so chucked a few objects at him, cloaked into a side room, and when I came out it triggered his death (assume he killed himself with grenades). Second boss stopped functioning and stood completely still while I did a few trips for ammo.

Quote from Tisky
I don´t understand why people are whining about the bosses?
QuoteNah, nobody is whining because they can't beat the first boss. He's just a normal dude operating under the normal mechanics with more health. The others, err, mix things up
Metal Gear Solid let you avoid killing bosses by filling them full of tranquilizers instead. They still died in the cutscene though. It was just to keep your kills at zero.
-
Goddamn bosses. Goddamn.

I think someone could release a strategy game like X-Com these days and make money on it. NIS mainly release TRPG's and I think they're doing okay right now (they were in trouble for a bit). But as much as an FPS? Especially if they hit the big time? No way.
I still love the quote "We don’t want players to micromanage the combat" when talking about squads.

Cloak and Dagger quest required a restart for me. Only other bug I have that's mattered is being unable to move someone because the CQC got them stuck in a desk.
Just finished China:
Quoteon the way out of the penthouse I took out the entire group of guards with one gas grenade. Feels good man.

Dude
grabs you from a side room as you're walking down the hallway before the cutscene, and throws you through a reinforced security window, and into some computers. Adam's guts and arms get shredded from all the glass and broken computer debris, you can see how fucked up his torso looks when the bad dude picks him up and chokes him. Then he's shot in the head.
QuoteOh, if there was a guy in gameplay I must've missed it. Facing the wrong way, computer hiccup, or something. Just to reiterate I did understand that being thrown through reinforced glass, impaled on a Future Computer, and shot in the face is generally bad for you.
Anyway... moving on.

Quote from Buddy
QuoteSorry, I shouldn’t have said “I really had no idea how Adam got wrecked”. I understand being impaled on a Misc Future Machine and shot in the face lower your life expectancy a little bit, I just found the transition from gameplay confusing. Wondering if it was some disconnected event was definitely stupidity on my part, though.
-
It is a habit of mine. I'll play through the intro again when I get back (unless you care to spoiler tag my stupidity?). I swear I didn't see any cut from there to the final fantasy cutscene, though.
-
I love this, played it way past my bedtime.
I brought the PC version but it detected my 360 pad and kind of locked that as the control scheme and interface - so I figured, hey, I’ll give it a spin. I thought with it being quite a complex game there would be a bit of key hunting on the PC and I wouldn’t be shooting too many people.
Although the game is totally about options it seems to really want me to stealth through sections and take a pacifist, or at least strategic, route. But in all the encounters so far it’s much easier to just shoot one guy and then wait behind one crate for the whole of the area to train into you.
Also, at the very beginning before you get all your ‘augs’
QuoteI really had no idea how Adam got wrecked. I was walking through a corridor then I was suddenly in a different room covered in blood with three big bad guys and his lady friend (who is so obviously still alive). Later the pilot (I think) said that there was an explosion and Adam was saved by debris, but that kind of implies the special trained amazing assassins blew up a building they were inside. Unless this is some unfinished flashback. Was really jarring.
That's me being negative though, like I said I'm really enjoying it.
