its the same thing to me.
a tree is a model just as much as a simple plane would be. if one can have alpha transparency, then the other must be able to have it as well.

A decal is pretty much a plane with diffuse/specular/normal and an opacity map.
You are saying Source can't handle that on models? How would you do trees if you cant have alpha transparency on modeled planes? It's the same idea.

thats why this is a texture contest and not a texture-to-be-used-in-nextgen-games contest.
it doesnt matter if you cant use them in HL2...that wasnt a rule =)
the point is just to paint some good looking textures for fun. everything goes :]

A giant blue statue of "Sesame Street's" Big Bird character perched above a roof has angered homeowners in a Wisconsin neighborhood, according to a Local 6 News report. Al Emmons of Greendale, Wis., has been displaying the statue on his home's chimney located at Bluebird Court.
However, neighbors complained that the bird diminished the historic integrity of the community and went to officials to get Emmons to remove the statue.
"It's just an unhealthy obsession," Emmons said. "It's such a silly thing to get upset about. That's also what the big to-do is, is that everyone is wondering why would they get so upset about having a blue bird on a guy's chimney that the kids made."
The Village's Historic Preservation Board ordered Emmons to take the blue Big Bird off the chimney or face a $100 a day fine. And, hours before the deadline, the bird was removed from the chimney.
However, the statute is once again perched on top of some scaffolding at roof level, holding an American flag and in plain view for the neighbors to see.
Neighbors are considering going back to the city to have the bird permanently removed.

Yeah I did. But I haven't had much of a chance to look through all the stuff yet. Also, it's gonna be a while till we have found the right person for the job so don't ask me for news every week or so

Pretty cool start. I don't much like the cracked earthy bits. Avoid using pure black and make sure the scaling makes sense. Right now the earthy parts (or at least the cracks) seem a bit too big compared to the road and grass.
But like i said, great first start.
