I agree with you Patrick, but it might have just been an artistic choice to put sky and landscape in contrast to eachother so much (cold/warm contrast). I think it gives the picture a really nice "old painting" look.

what's with the overlay on the window? it's really distracting...even the hole has it
the rest is pretty good, its just a really big texture..hardly justifiable for the amount of detail thats on it.

nice!!!! really good piece.
my only complaint would be the bright spots in the clouds and the sunrays coming from them are very muddy and grey and not very nice looking. I love the little castle and the S-shaped road leading to it (very spooky and mysterious, yet inviting) and the birds you added above that tree are a nice touch.

i really dont like the normal. its way too heavy and noisy.... if this is a metallic surface it should be smooth except for the scratches.
