What do you mean "how popular"- Like, are you asking if they're in demand? I would say so, but you have to have a really strong portfolio. (Like with any job in games).
Title varies from studio to studio. They are called Sound Designer here.

Very cool indeed.
I don't think curman will ever get married.
Didn't you say cubemaps?
I saw some cube mapping in css so i'm pretty sure it's possible. Check if the file is read only? What "file" are you talking about anyway?
What's the point of this thread?
of course it's legal. it's already on gamasutra, bluesnews, shacknews,.. its basically all over the place.
There's yet an other report from a former EA employee on livejournal. and it's just as bad.

QuoteHowever, I skipped many colorful and fleshing out stuff that shows you the culture of EA, e.g. the Executive Producer of the project hung a neon sign in the team area that said "Open 7 days" and constantly sent out emails to the whole team saying that he'd see them over the weekend.
What OL said.
happy birthday mazzlecake~~@@µmmmmmmmmmm~~~!~~~~~~~~1~
Some good stuff in there. Too bad the tripod or feet (or both) are in so many of the pics.
Anyways,
Thanks!
How about you guys stop the spamming before something ugly happens.
ahsaahahahahahahaha ! AWESOME
I heard a nasty story where people were told that some positions were available on other in-house projects and they were asked if they'd like to join these teams. The next day, everybody who said yes the day before got fired.
So it was sort of used as a secret test for loyality among employees, and everybody that didn't give a loyal answer was handed a few bags of fresh unemployment breeze.
Can't verify this myself as I've never worked there, but I heard it from a industry veteran who left EA and was one of the more or less higher ups there..
pizza+beer for me. once a month.
oh also free fruits on wednesdays and bagels on fridays. The lunch is quite cheap and its good. We have our very own cafeteria on the 5th floor and quite the selection of different hot foods and salads etc...
There's also a gym at the office that all employees can use free of charge. Hmmm what else... Oh yeah, we play games during lunch (of course) - There are usually several servers running CS:S and QUAKE III every day.
My project also has something we call the DOLL OF SHAME which is basically a plastic model of darth maul with a light saber. the DOS is handed to people who do shameful things, like breaking builds or missing team meetings. Its got sound, moves, and so on ![]()
