As my dear friend Zilla mentioned, you might as well use the engine to good use. Yeah, it would be really easy to make a brush-for-brush remake of assault. So you might as well make this actually feel like something real.
Ideas/suggestions:
1)Embed windows into the wall instead of making them flat.
2)Make there be a reason there are ladders and such at stupid points in the map
3) Make the inside of the warehouse actually feel like one.
4)Make it feel like you're actually in a city with road markers, stop signs, sidewalks, trash cans, newspaper boxes, street lights, etc. Assault was always bizarrely scaled for some reason.
5)Don't be afraid to alter the layout/dynamics. People have been playing assault for 5 damn years. It's horribly repetitive and badly unbalanced. don't be afraid to chance the dynamics be altering the scale, adding windows you can snipe through, adding different ways to breach the building, etc. Sure, it's going to take playtesting to balance the map, but people would probably kill for a balanced Assault.

the tetris one was funny, the rest were just kind of ehhhh

man whoever wrote that ingame dialog is brilliant.

I second that. 18 years of Plano was enough for me.
I'd go to the Netherlands. In fact, I look forward to going there in the near future when I go on my European Odyssey. I just think there is such wonderful art and atmosphere there. A perfect place to relax and clear your mind for an extended time.

Can we have a CZ-style suicide belt of a guy holding a nuke and a hammer?

I wasn't trying to be a dick or anything with my previous line of questioning. Mapcore is full of very talented artists, many of them currently or previously working in the game industry. Nobody is going to join any mod team without there being some sort of core team established. If you don't have EXPERIENCED coders and modelers on board, the mod will in all likelyhood fail. Sorry. That's a fact of life.
Again, not trying to be a dick, just asking reasonable questions if you want help.

I nominate for spotlight gallery!!!!
-
what existing talent do you have? Do you have expereinced coders (plural) already? Do you have experienced modelers? do you yourself have any level of experience or skill?
-
That's what custom single player packs will be useful for.

thank you

okay, if you're about to skip a whole day so you can stay inside and play a video game you need three things immediately: the outdoors, booze, and women
friends don't let friends become dorks.

but newcomers smell funny...

i made an account, but never used it. let the bidding begin.

We were having a little bit of an old school renunion in IRC tonight, and I thought "hey, wouldn't it be funny to see the old mapcore site on the Wayback Machine?" This is what I found:
http://web.archive.org/web/200012121304 ... ement.html
The day we (I) broke Anarchy. The day we (I) held a mass walkout. Oddly enough, if you look a fwe months ahead on the Wayback Machine, Anarchy is gone and we're all back.
It's still a great read though. My public letter is probably the most pompous shit that's ever been recorded. The part where I say that mapping for profit is evil and all those who do it are sellouts is great. Anyways, just thought I'd share. Feel free to post any other bit of Mapcore nostalgia you have lying around. If anybody has some of the classic shit from the old (really old) CS boards, I'd love to see it.

3. If you don't have anything to add to the conversation, just flip past and don't click the reply button, simple huh?

In the E3 HL2 Tech Demo there was the demonstrated ability to have real time cameras. Is this still in the engine and does CS:S have access to it.
Point being: could we have a control room with real time security cameras?
