I hope that the AI in this is a bit more human-like than Civ 5's one. I stopped playing Civ because once you reach a certain skill level the AI becomes very predictable. I think the last difficulty I was able to play was 6, which was pretty challenging at first because all the other CIVs had pretty good initial advantages, but once I caught up with them the challenge was gone. Seems like the higher the difficulty level the more artificial advantages the AI has instead of actually becoming more intelligent. It kind of feels like playing an FPS game against bots that cheat to be more challenging.

Don't get me wrong, the AI is fucking amazing in CIV 5 and saw some major improvements in the expansions, but I'd love to see a more organic behavior from them.

Started watching Attack on Titan after hearing so many people talking about it. Not disappointed, this shit is blowing my mind Very unique and well thought out, I love how the designs actually make sense in the world. Highly recommended!

There's no way I'm ever gonna discuss my salary with anyone. I think I spoke to one guy at Frontier about how much we were on, back when I was still a graduate artist.. Luckily we were on the same amount. But it would have caused no end of problems if we'd have been on different salaries.

Though I would like to know what other people are on haha. Nosy bastard.

Yeah man. That was one of the first advices I got when I started in the industry and it has proven to be a very a good one.

Reasons why you should never talk about your own salary:

    - It's highly dependent on several factors, not just "how good" or "how fast" you are. Each person is unique and you can't really compare yourself to others from their salaries alone.

    - People get different raises and different bonuses, based not just on "how good they are" but as well as the manager's judgement, how well the company/team is doing, personal skills etc...

    - It might lead to competition, even if subconsciously. This is a natural tendency among men and one that I try to avoid personally.

    - It's very unprofessional.

It's not hard to find out how much people make at a company anyway. If you feel you are being paid less than others, you can always do some googling or ask people who have left the company how much they used to make.

Personally, I'd rather not know what my colleagues make or even which score they get in their annual reviews, as this often leads to uncomfortable situations. Ex: A friend who has been in the company for a few years was super happy when he finally got a good score and asked me what my score was. I congratulated him and changed subject immediately. My score was a bit higher and had I told him, he could probably take it as competition or even worse, feel like I was diminishing his accomplishment.

Yeah exactly, if the company is not reimbursing travel expenses that's probably a sign it is very weak financially and could bust any time....

From my experience a salary is most of the times subjective, each candidate will be offered a different one. The general rule is, a studio usually has a base salary for a given position and depending on the candidate's experience and how much of a good negotiator he is, a higher salary can be negotiated. It all depends on how well you do on the interview and your track record really.

The reason companies don't post salaries imo is:

    - They might offer a lower salary than the base one if they want to risk hiring a candidate they are not sure about.

    - Salaries are highly dependent on the person's skills, experience and personal skills, so even though they have a base or minimum amount, those will always be tweaked for each individual.

    - Competing studios in the area might offer slightly higher salaries to steal good candidates.

It's really important to brush up your social skills for situations like that too. I've seen quite a few people who were really good at their job making lower salaries because they were too quiet/not very social, and I have also seem less skilled people making higher salaries than their colleagues because they were good negotiators during their interview (but those usually don't last too long in a job).

In a games industry interview I'd say that you want to look professional, easy going but also smart. You should not accept any shit that's thrown at you (unless it's your first job of course) but rather ask for some time to make an informed decision if you are not sure about the salary being offered. Generally, the more experienced you are the more you are able to negotiate a higher salary.

I don't know, I always try to compare my work to others in the area and use that as a base for what "I'm worth". You also don't want to be an asshole and ask for a higher salary than everyone else just because you think you are "teh shit", that's one of the worst things you can do in an interview tbh. Always be humble but realistic, and always know what you are worth

Same comments by "different" users in different subs. The guy even forgot to switch accounts in the gaming thread Or it could be just a fanatic Facebook fan, who knows lol

By the way, this is nothing new, other big companies and even the governmenta have been doing this for years now:

    https://firstlook.org/theintercept/2…g-manipulation/

That serves to show how dangerous it is to form your opinion based on internets comments alone, how nice of a company Facebook is (if they are really being that low that is) and what to expect from the "social VR experience"

Yeah it's ridiculous how frail these cards are these days... At least Gigabyte offers a 3 years warranty, so the repair should be OK. It still sucks not being able to use the PC for games/3D for like 3 weeks tho .

Will definitely get a MSI next Stepp

    Hey guys

I hate to post this kind of stuff here, but I have looked everywhere and can't find any solutions.

A few months ago my PC started going into standby mode for no apparent reason. The screen turns off but the fans still run and the cpu lights are still on. The only way to get back to windows is to manually restart it.

This wasn't too big of a problem since it would happen now and then, but it's been getting increasingly worse to the point that it doesn't even boot fully anymore, it just goes into standby after boot. Sometimes it crashes before that and the pc keeps turning on and off trying to start.

What puzzles me is that it can happen anytime, most of times when i'm only doing simple stuff like browsing or watching a video. I have checked the temperatures several times and they seem completely normal. I also cleaned an reseat all cables and parts but it didnt help a thing.

Has anybody ever had this problem? I think I'll just buy a new mobo and try it out, but I was wondering if this could be related to otherhardware piece too.
