You shouldn't use pictures with direct lighting information. It makes textures look really ugly and out of place ingame since the ingame lighting will probably never match the texture lighting ![]()

Yeah Max still does have its downsides. Even opening the UV editor takes ages now, and I find it really slow coming out of sub-object modes too for some reason.
Try to close your browser if you have it open, that should improve UI redraw times (at least it does significantly for me)

maaaaaaaaan...i just had kidney stones myself...in fact, i think i still do as i keep pissing blood every few days or so and pissing out little bits and pieces. one of the worst pains i've had so far (mono was worse though)
i haven't been posting much on mapcore lately...... mostly just lurking around. as most of you know i've been on sort of a games industry time-out since finishing Deus Ex: Human Revolution and the DLCs etc. I moved back to Germany early last year (something i thought I'd never do) and have been working for an airline just to pay the bills and do something else for a bit.
My sister had a baby and I didn't want to miss seeing him grow up in his first few years. It's been a pretty scary step to sort of "quit" and drop everything but I think I needed it and experience something else in my life. I feel like I taking a step back from the whole circus of the games industry gave me the chance to focus on some other elements of my life that i severely neglected in the past, in other words "having a social life". I found an amazing girlfriend here and we've been living together for the past year or so and I seriously haven't been this happy in a long long time. But also, I just downloaded Unreal Engine 4 and am starting to put together a new portfolio soon to make a re-entry into the biz in the next year or so hopefully. I feel motivated again and my batteries are re-charged. I might post a few WIPs here soon when I really start getting into it. I've missed hanging out on Mapcore.

Oh well congrats Germany, Argentina gave their best, great final for a great World Cup

It sucks that the world cup ends tomorrow... The only thing that warms my broken heart is to know that I won't have to see sprony bitching about referees anymore

Ok so i was doing some food shopping at a random supermarket and i was in the queue waiting to pay.
Then a woman asks me out loud : " Don't you think it smells like shit ? "
I say : " Yes it does. "
And then with the cashier we look around and there was a fat and smelly shit standing there alone on the clean tiles just after the cashier stand. Where the fuck does that comes from ???
The black woman who was the cashier was absolutely disgusted and just threw paper on it and said : " I'm not cleaning this, it's too disgusting and I am not paid to clean shits on the floor. "
Then an arabic guy in the queue behind starts shouting out loud throwing his arms 360° around him : " THERE IS SO MANY JOBLESS PEOPLE WHO WOULD BE HAPPY TO HAVE A JOB CLEANING SHITS ON THE FLOOR, YOU HAVE A JOB AND YOU ARE DOING MANNERS YOU FUCKING CUNT "
The cashier answers mixed in a flow of insults that it wasn't her job, that she was already doing a shitty job to be insulted by such fuckers and that it was nowhere written in the contract she signed. People in the queue were shouting there is no need for violence over a shit, some virtuous souls proposing to clean the shit. Then they started to insult each other in arabic and I didn't understood a thing.
Meanwhile, the 2 m tall black guy from the security was slowly coming with his arms in his back while an employee and the butcher of the supermarket with his bloody apron were coming in reinforcement.
The angry guy finally left and so do I after i paid.
But i do not know who finally got to clean the shit ? The shit of dissension

That's how civil wars will break out in the 21st century.

I didn't feel like work today. Came in, didn't do dick. Immediately started surfing, did some interview stuff for the Core, went on a long break, took a 3 hour dump, surfed some more, chilled with some colleagues, finally didn't know what to do online, looked at the clock, one hour to go. Responded to like 10 mails, typing fast, copy pasting shit and using fancy words. Received a call from my manager that he really appreciates all my hard work and the enormous effort I put in everyday. Offered to finish something for him meaning I would do a bit of overtime (like 10 minutes or so). He was overjoyed and I had a really hard time not to burst out in laughter.

Mother-in-law is visiting us, my life is pretty miserable for the next 2 weeks.

-
To be honest we were lucky we played against a respectful team, had Argentina or some other south american team played with that superiority, the final score would probably have been much higher

WIP, the car looks like shit, will work on it and add people and vegetation later!

On a more serious note, losing is one thing but this was just humiliating and to be honest, I feel bad for them. My earlier and valid points aside, you don't want this to happen to people. Not on their own turf, in their own home and for their own people who really needed something. There was so much to do about having the World Cup there which makes this even worse. I hoped they would lose but with dignity.
To be honest this was much needed for our society. Football has always been a huge distraction there, no matter how shitty people's lives are they at least had an unbeatable team (in their minds). This loss only exposed the reality: we haven't had good football in almost a decade now. Who's to blame for that? If you ask me it's a combination of media and greedy managers. They are always looking for the next "Pelé". They are useful for the media because they can use that distraction anytime they need, and for managers, who make millions when they talk european clubs into paying millions before they get too expensive.
What happens is that these guys never get enough time to get mentally strong and to make a name for themselves in Brazil before playing in Europe, so when they face the harsh reality they are not up to it. At that point they are basically screwed, because the the media is always looking for "saviors" and "scapegoats".
This pattern has been repeating for years. Just to name a few:
Robinho: Hailed as the new Pelé when he was 17, blamed for the 2010 loss. He's probably 27 or something now and never got anywhere.
Ronaldinho: Hailed as the new "Ronaldo" and transferred to Europe when he was 18. If he wasn't an idiot he could have been the captain of this team today.
Adriano: Was kicked out of Italy for being a troublemaker. Was given several chances in brazilian clubs but all he cares about is drinking and partying. Guy is probably 30 now and doesn't even play anymore. He could have been the striker we needed so much.
Alexandro Pato: Transferred to Milan when was 18, hailed as a huge promise, failed to perform well even in the brazilian league last year and was kicked out of his team...
Ganso: This guy is from the same generation as Neymar, was always hailed as a genius, played like a genius for a few matches but is a total mental wreck these days.
Neymar on the other hand played in Brazil for years before going to Europe, and you can tell he's pretty strong mentally and responsible. He basically carried the entire team on his back so far.
Anyways, I hope we start from scratch now and get a winning team in maybe 10 years or so. The brazilian charade was completely demolished today
