I'm not used to watching movies with lots of CGI anymore. So I have no idea what horrible postprocessing looks like. Though, I did also think the CG arm looks way to fragile. Anyway, my question: how can I see if the postprocessing sucks? In games I can probably tell, but movies...

Doesn't look that horrible imo. Sure doesn't look even close to a 8/10 but maybe it will turn out to be a fun 6.5

So went on my own Tuesday night after gym, to Kingsotn's IMAX. Premiere seats and perfectly centered.

The movie is not available in 3D right?

It's a beautiful movie, but I'd say also complicated one, I feel like I want to know more about the science behind… that I needed to know more before watching it. And I want to know more about what the hell happened to earth in that narrative world.

I dunno, I still can't really formulate an opinion of it, I feel sorta "stunned" by it, but at least is not like when I finished watching Inception when I said "no".

I think in terms of scifi I'd rate this below Moon… but friend of mine was commenting that the message of the movie is exactly to transcend science, so it's a different thing.

This is a movie about space exploration and transcendence, the dying earth is just an excuse for the story Just like 2001 and other Nolan movies, you probably have to watch it more than once and read shit on the internet to fully understand all the small intricacies.

It reminds me of Neil Blomkampf talking about how you can make sci-fi movies in two different ways, science-driven or satire. The problem with doing science-driven movies is that people will be much more critical of the logic behind them. This in part was the reason why I couldn't enjoy Gravity, the errors in that one were too big for me to ignore them.

I was reading something interesting about

closed time loops and it explains how Cooper was able to change the past. This theory states that time flows in a circle and not an arrow. If that's the case we wouldn't notice that anyway because we would still experience time in a linear way.

Here's an analysis of the movie from this angle: http://www.nerdist.com/2014/11/rust-c…f-interstellar/

Just to explain what I mean by spirituality: Spirituality is a very tainted word these days and understandably shrugged by almost everyone who's scientific literate. But if you really understand what it means it has nothing to do with religion or a belief in a biblical god or anything like that. It doesn't contradict science and it doesn't contradict common sense.

My gripe with the current scientific paradigm is that it doesn't explain a simple question: What drives life? I find it hard to accept that my thoughts are just "random sparks of electricity" in my brain. To me it makes more sense that these sparks are commands by our mind converted into electrical signals that the body can understand. The idea is that the mind, your essence, drives the body. Simple idea and doesn't contradict what we know about the brain so far.

What drove the first molecules to group together? If you believe that given the ideal circumstances life will arise (the current paradigm) this implies a constant and not an accident. What drives this constant? Of course we don't have any data to prove that life is a constant or an accident, we might very well be the only ones in the universe until proven otherwise, but if it's indeed a constant then some force not yet understood must be driving it. And maybe our minds must be made of the same "force". Of course this is all philosophy and not science, but it's an idea that makes sense to me

What I think the movie did pretty well is to explain some of these "spiritual" concepts (which are in part corroborated by quantum physics experiments) in a clear and more scientific way. Some spiritual belief systems state that other layers of reality coexist with this one. The leading quantum physics theories state that the universe is a multiverse of realities. Same idea, different wording.

Anyways, it's pretty fucking awesome that a Hollywood flick is making people everywhere ask deep questions
