Btw, I found that the game feels a lot more correct in fullscreen mode instead of widescreen. Widescreen basically crops the screen vertically o__O

I'm finally playing the Resident Evil 1 remake, why didn't I play this before? The cool thing is that I don't remember anything from the first game at all (I barely played it back then), so I'm pretty much playing it for the first time, figuring shit out as I go. Feels good to feel the same tension that I felt when I played the original ones back then... everything in this game is so fucking lethal!

It's @blackdog's turn now.

I've read somewhere that 3dsmax is good for easy stuff, but hard for doing advanced stuff. And Maya is easy for advanced stuff, but hard for easy stuff (if that makes sense).
It's a matter of taste but I find it quite the opposite.
The grid system in Maya works much better than Max's, and unlike Max you don't need to add modifiers to edit your meshes. I just find Maya more straightforward to model than Max in general. Give it a try for a day or two and see if you like it!

Did you experiment with Maya too? I find it much closer to Hammer than 3ds Max

Turns out render mods don't work anymore? The jaggies are out of control in this game...

Love this, top notch work!

I'm very interested in this game because I'm sucker for anything Rome, is there an easy mode where you can just skip all the gameplay and enjoy the trip?

Do you blend in details solely via vertex colors? do you fake AO in any way? how do those sweet normal mapped corners work, are they just a bunch of trim textures?
the teal building to the left in the pic above for example, is that dirt in the corners mapped in via separate UV set? stuff like that

it's probably really obvious but I'd still like to hear about it from someone way more experienced than me.
Unfortunately I can't go into details but you would be surprised how obvious everything is, and judging from your questions you already know the answers
One thing I can say is that we don't have any "esoteric" tech that other engines don't have. As for the corners, it's not much different than this http://polycount.com/discussion/175…rmal-map-decalsAlright, part 2, Lijiang Tower
