He's just a bit anxious I can understand that. Seems like a huge leap for your studio HP. Congrats and good luck!

Looks promising so far. My main problem with the map is that all paths are very narrow and that can seriously harm the gameplay. This map is desperately crying for huge distant landscapes in the background, make good use of the 3d skybox feature! Furthermore, you could decrease the lightmap size in faces that receive detailed shadows such as the concrete wall in the last screenshot. Keep up the good work!

This is indeed a very inspiring work =)

Good one

Yeah I agree about the pixel art thing. I didn't use any vanishing points so the perspective is kind off boring. But I wanted to paint something wide so I guess it works fine for this case.
I'm calling this done now:

I dig the perspective =)

Hey doylle, nice seeing you here and welcome to mapcore! I dig your style a lot. I love the assets and the textures specially. They got the right amount of wear. What about some white lighting here and there? I'd also like to see some industrial lamps hanging from the ceiling, with lots of glow sprites and so on. This is a lab after all.
Not much to comment on at the moment but looking forward to this project.

Alright here's another one. I went for a cyberpunk'ish look for this one. The perspective is kind off boring but I'm finally feeling able to work with nice 3 points perspectives from now on =) The water is very sucky and WIP as well. If anyone know any good tuts on how to paint water or has any good tips feel free to post them. Comments and critics are appreciated as always.

Just use the default round hard edge brush
Peris uses a square brush as well but I can't get used to it. -
The brush you are using totally kills the feeling imo. Use hard edge brushes instead, they will give you a much better visual. As for the composition I think the light contrast should be bigger. It looks very flat at the moment, give this thing stronger shades/highlights =)

What is now the best way to colour a greyscale painting ? Using the hue-and saturation tool and the other image adjustmenttools or the brushtool set to color mode ?Or maybe something else ... I just wondered
I'm totally against doing grayscale paintings and then color them artificially. It really limits you. However it can work in some cases. Here's a very good tutorial on this technique:

No. The whole situation was f*cked up for as long as there was no UDSSR anymore. The Georgiens are the rightous owner of the country to a certain extent (simmilar to the Tibet-China-Conflict -> select a random date in history and it does or it aint belong to the country historically) but the former UdSSR Gov nearly 20 years back was the last half-way stable goverment in that region. Now these parts of georgia want to be independent due to some aethnical or what ever reasons which might be ok or not but the problem is that Georgia's goverment didn't knew how to calm the situation down, the russians on the other hand feared a georgian NATO-Membership (due to it's geographical neighbourhood to russia and it's natural resources) and therefore did anything to push the rebelion within georgia. The Georgian Gov when tried to invade the capitol of the province which was about to declare it's independence, clear the whole situation (not in a very diplomatic but well, it's theyr country and one rule in international politics is "it's not our buisness what a country does within it's own borders" (again see tibet-china)). The UdSSR relicts now being that 90% of the inhabitants of above mentioned province have russian IDs encourages Putin's newest puppet Medvedev to see this as a threat to the russian people and therefore allows him to strike back on the aggressor. Now the region of crysis is limited due to the borders of the not-yet-independent-province of georgia but infact the russians are currently attacking all over georgia and allthough they state it's only military targets they aim at it seems they are destroying all of georgias possibilities to trade and work with theyr natural resources, which will lead to poverty in the region and (in russian terms) hopefully to chaos or at least instability within Georgia. It seems that the russian point of view is still very simmilar to the UdSSR point of view and that they are looking for an opportunity to take over theyr former sattelite-states or keep them at low niveau to grant theyr own influence into the region. If Georgia would have been within the NATO already the defense-contracts would have lead to a war between russia and maybe some of it's depending states against all of the Nato-Members (to name a few: USA, Germany, UK, (France is actually not a full member of the NATO but Sarkozy is currently heading back there) etc.).
A simmilar crysis could have happened in Kosovo but the KFOR's presence and the historical events of the last 15 years with Serbian/Yugoslavia went postal against Kosovo it seemed more justified to our western hemisphere that Kosovo became independent.
We will face very simmilar conflicts in not to far away future on the border of turkey, iran and iraq if the Kurdish Peoples Party will renew the wish for an own state. With turkey there's a NATO affilitate (or member!?) directly bordered, the iraq as an already instable and war-marked country and iran as the uncontrolable player within the region.
The very same conflict is btw ongoing in northern spain with the basks who are fighting for an own state. The ETA is fighting (terror-attacking) spain since years.
Same goes for the FARC in Columbia although it seems Columbia is winning this war now.
The problem in all these conflicts is that there are legal arguments for both sides and it's always very regional conflicts which don't seem to be important for the international politics but as they sum up it could lead to a more and more instable world policy and can damage trusts between states.
Further historical points could be the korea and the vietnam war in which the UdSSR or China supported common groups in a crysis of a souverain state and the americans supported the counter-party so a regional conflict within a closed system lead to the conflict of the two most dangerous parties in the world which both tried to held up theyr interests within that region...
(it's a bit late and I'm coming from a wedding so if not everything makes perfect sense or is not written entirely clear I'm sorry and am willing to state/explain a certain point of the above again)
Thanks for clearing this up, the whole thing makes more sense now.

Saw a thread like this and I think it rocks, we need one of those here in mapcore. Post only completed models though. I could fill an entire forum with unfinished and sucky props

Here's mine: A popcorn popper that's still in use in Insurgency. It makes no sense since I made this from my head instead of looking for proper references. The texture is also very ugly and annoying. I'm ashamed I made such a sucky model for such a great mod back then
