What annoys me the most in this demo is that you can only carry 2 weapons at a time. That limits your gameplay options severely because you always have to stick to the weapon the level designer wanted you to use to beat specific chokepoints. What's the point of that?
I can stand a shitty storyline, bad level design (I got lost twice in the demo) and everything else. But I really can't stand lack of freedom and bad weapon feeling. The weapons are just not fun at all

What I was expecting: Duke 3d mechanics with improved graphics and a new storyline. Why fuck with something that's still fun even after a decade?
What I got: Generic shooter with bad weapons and a duke nukem makeover
I also agree that Jon St John sounds off in some parts. Maybe he got old and his voice changed?
I'll probably get it when it's on sale for $5 or something. Or maybe when modders tweak the weapons and etc

This game's got nothing of what made Duke 3D a great game
You can only carry 2 weapons at a time, how retarded is that?I'll wait untill I find it on a bargain bin!

This would be day one purchase if it had MGS1.

I've experienced two different kinds of crunch times in my short industry experience. This is how I've dealt with them:
*Compulsory crunch time: One of the managers, who is too busy inflating his ego, overlooks the schedule, comes up to me on a friday night and "invite" me to come over the weekend. My answer: I'm not available.
*"Voluntary" crunch time: Near a deadline, the lead comes to the team, express his concerns about the art not looking polished enough and asks if we want to come over the weekend to work on it. OR, I'm working on a feature that I enjoy a lot and I want to give that extra time to make it better. My answer: Sure, that would be fun.

What happened to Ghost Recon Future Soldier? Did Ubisoft cancel that game?

We should have a CS:S mapping contest one day

Don't think I'll ever top the awesomeness of those days, now you need 20 artists to make something so visually impact-full it changes you forever

Yeah but that's rapidly improving. It's much easier to make a 100% custom map today than it was when HL2 was released. We now have tools like nDO, Crazybump, CGTextures.com, etc... I can make a "current-gen" material at least 70% faster than I could back in 2005 or something.
I think the hardest part is to find an audience. People only play arena maps now (on CS:S that is).
On the bright side: I released DM_zest on a few sites and got emails from server admins praising the map and even got it pimped as map of the month on a german site. Who could say people still play HL2DM? The community is still out there. It's just a lot more spread.
