What made you think it would be free?
He prolly thought of "Lost Coast" who will be free.
I liked the trailer, Its short and all but everything HL is enjoyable to me
Maybe its short beacuse there shouldent be any major spoiler this time. (btw is the gun inside Alyx arm ?) Spell, download the large version and check for yourself
Lost coast and Aftermatch in the same year, I must be dreaming
right...forgot. have to excuse me...been working way to many hours to remember all the details about Vavle's product release plan between free stuff and not free stuff.
well...i'm definitely going to play it, and while this trailer doesn't blow me away or anything, somehow it has me excited at the possibility of quality gaming in HL2 universe. i've been so busy i haven't had time to play any games other than 15 minutes a day of Mercenaries on my xbox (hey, i liked the game)...anyway if it's good I'll play it, even if doesn't revolutionize anything.
it's going to be free to owners of HL2, right? if so, then i can't complain.
no worries on the english.
Yes, I'd say the 5500 is probably the culprit without knowing anything more.
congrats!
well i don't know the overall circumstances of your life, but why wait? if you can get it all organized, then what are you waiting for? better do it sooner than later. if this will really lead to bigger and better things then go for it.
oooooooh....very cool.
yeah you guys are nerds, but in a good way.
Quote from Alexjfry3. but what brought me here was my desire to learn more about game design.
tiz a wide open ambition there. you may want to simply read through old threads here where people debate what they like and dislike about certain games. that's kind of obvious but you basically have to know games to make games.
other than that, definitely start messing around in Source SDK as people have suggested. it's not *easy* by any means to learn everything you need to know, but practice is the most important thing.
awesome! welcome to this side of the Atlantic!
um....
i think i'll ask my friend at namco who works in marketing...just curious what their feelings are on this. very interestng indeed.
yes it does look good.
the only feedback is that it has this "double" design with two similar sections and very small fonts. As a portfolio, it doesn't draw me in to any particular place...makes me feel like I have to do a lot of work to find out "what kind of 3D artist is this Skdr guy anyway?"
Still...pwningly good on the style!
Also...
In the USA members of Congress, and most or all politicians, are not gamers. They grew up in a generation before video games. They don't value games or the sarcastic-don't-take-yourself-so-seriously gaming culture at all. So to me it's no surprise that the hotheads in Congress are going after video games with such ferocity. They have accepted TV and Hollywood and Radio, so they don't have this "I'm gunning for you no matter what" mentality the way they do with video games. Sure, the FCC went nuts after the Janet Jackson nipple thing, but that was a special case. I thnk all new forms of entertainment based on new technologies went through this kind of thing as this thread has already hinted on.
Oh, it was Hatians that sued Rocktar over Vice City...right?
yeah back on topic,
get that person to pay for the bike for sure. is your ankle hurt bad? can you walk?
Quote from mike-0anyways, you have to wonder why rockstar didnt just take the scene out anyways, they wouldve saved some space on those discs. maybe they didnt "intend" for this to happen, but they knew by leaving it in someone would find it.
gotta agree with that. one thing is for sure, the greater the controversy, the more GTA games sell.
side topic of this:
Wal-Mart won't carry A/O games. Does this mean the will suddenly pull GTA:SA from their store?
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/search-n ... s=20&ico=0
I guess so, given what Klein posted. :-|
Wal-Mart won't even consider carrying an A/O title (at least not right now) and because of that, no major game would want an A/O because of lack of sales in US territory. Punisher almost got an A/O back when it was trying to get a rating. ESRB had Volition tone it down and mute the most brutal torture deaths in black and white. That totally changed the game and made it less of what it should have been.
:meow:
What has you moving there? Just curious
OMG I heard that EA is going to charge a monthly subscription fee for people to use Steam.
Oh I also heard that they will be making handheld mini-HL2 games as brand extentions to HL2...plus they will be creating a new reality show called "Half-World" where they put attractive co-eds and alcohol in an eastern European city that is overrun by a some gestapo-like police force...with sexy results. Oh and all future HL2 based MP servers will have ingame ads for EA sports games, the kind that if you disable on your computer you are considered a cheater and will revoke your steam account...and that the Barney and GMan characters will be featured in their own EA sponsored animated series on MTV. Oh yeah they are going to build an EA office right next to Valve and send a marketing committee full of MBAs to support Valve's marketing strategies. And they are going to take over the Valve mod-expo, too. Oh all future Valve products distributed by EA will also be T rated and be skewed toward hip hop streetracing 2fast2furious wannabes.
Um...anyway...

Quote from Section_Ei8htMan, I was voting for Activision or THQ. wtf.
Well....it kinda makes sense for Valve to go with EA for the physical retail distribution.
1) EA probably is giving Valve more $$$ than either Activision or THQ would have
2) EA has the strongest sales force in the industry...and the widest international reach where penetration of broadband (and hence, Steam) is lowest
Both of which would result in the maximum $$$ for Valve. As for the ATVI-Valve deal on Day of Defeat, I think that was a one product deal for just that iteration of DoD.
What's interesting is that HL2 might be the first major M-rated game EA ha signed or internally developed. Anyone else remember any M-rated EA games?
i'm sure someone is going to reply with "OMFG THAT'S OLD YOU NOOB" but this just went around the office.
someone hold me while i cry myself to sleep!!
