Pourin a 40 on the ground for all my homies who still work(ed) in the THQ network. Next time I drive by the office on the freeway I'm curious if the sign will still be there.
At least some of the brands have a chance to live on.
Blizzard would have to produce/exec produce the entire thing and get a Hollywood studio to handle distribution...and that's it. The minute you get Hollywood exec producers involved in the creative side it would go to utter shit. (No offense, Hollywood...you can make good movies but movies based on video games that you make are shit.) Now, how many studios with big distribution experience would line up to work with Blizzard and not get creative input? Nice round number.
This all assumes Blizzard could find the right person to write the script and the right director to make it happen. Without those things it would probably be crap with or without a big external studio meddling in.
witcher 2 is on my stack to play. watch this trailer makes me really want to play it now.
iOS - The Walking Dead
PC - DayZ, but also World of Tanks even though it didn't really release in 2012. It had huge growth in 2012.
XBLA - Minecraft. Original game on PC finally "released" in 2011, so this isn't really new but it ran away with the crown of best selling XBLA title ever in very short order.
PSN - Journey
PSVita - <nothing>
360/PS3 - Spec Ops. The game had issues but the story and writing were excellent. Same goes for Max Payne 3 which actually did something very rare: it created a real sense of character in its main, erm, character. But still, Witcher 2, Dishonoured, XCOM...all seriously good stuff.
Kids game: LEGO LotR. A game with design issues, but if you really like LEGO and LotR, this game is friggin awesome fan service.
At this point i would take a good PS3 port to Vita just to have something to play on the road etc. when I don't have access to a console and am sick of iOS. GT5, God of War anything, Uncharted 2 port...shit give me something, Sony. Vita is so much missed potential. ![]()
This is the best cat related flash game I've played this year.
Quote from MazyRegarding THQ, then this situation also seems like fallout from that entire uDraw gamble that completely blew up in their face, manufacturing shitloads (millions I think) of hardware that simply didn't sell. It's kinda incredible that they've been able to keep going for this long. Hope Company of Heroes 2 is amazing and sells a ton.
This.
Given THQ's cash situation, bankruptcy was the obvious choice, and honestly the smartest move under the circumstances. If it is to have any chance at long term survival it must get games to market and they must sell...no other way to say it. For a long time it could get away with bad product or a big flop given it had enough products in the market to sustain itself. But too many misses and the losses just piled up. It was a negative war of attrition.
Anyway, if you are someone who wants to see THQ live on, pray they release their games and when they do, go buy them. Nothing else to say.
Everyone here (US) is watching CNN. Sad day indeed. ![]()

I'd watch the rest of that!
Damn you! Was just going to post that. The computer voice in the trailer sounds exactly like GLADOS from Portal.
Also, this trailer's "BWWWAAAAHHH" sound has a more metallic grindy-stringy thing going on. I would have been pissed if didn't have BWAAAAHHH in it so I am pleased. Pleased to make fun of it for having it.
At least the trailer has BWWWAAAAAHHHH.
Anyone try it for their Xbox 360? It finally came out for iOS. I tried it with my 360 and thought it was interesting mainly because it's a free app. Of course you need a compatible touch screen phone or tablet. But still, it's free. Curious if people here have tried and any thoughts on it. http://www.xbox.com/en-US/smartglass

So sad. I hope they pull through some how.
