Knowing nothing about this at all as of yet and the fact that it is described as "point and click" I assume this will at least be on mobile/tablet? And yeah, other platforms I suppose...

A really good point and click adventure game on tablet? I'm in. Just make sure it's not F2P. Charge a fair price for it upfront, pls.

  • EA CEO Ricitello resigns

I've met him briefly, super nice guy and he does seem to care about people on an interpersonal level. I don't hear stories of him as this tyrant jerkwad of a CEO, so that's good. However, a big issue I have is the question of self-dealing when he sells his company to EA a couple months after taking the helm. In other words, he left EA in 2004 to form the private equity firm Elevation Partners which then bought Pandemic and Bioware. Then Elevation sold P/B to EA for $830 million and he became the CEO of EA. So basically he sold his company and become the CEO of the firm he sold it to. Pretty sweet...it was a big investment and I am sure one that paid off nicely for him. This "big, bold move" strategy set the tone for his role as CEO:

    - Start with the opening move of the Bioware/Pandemic sale (exclude SWTOR right now). To the $830 million add a couple hundred million for Mass Effect and Dragon Age games....have ME and DA earned back over $1 billion?

    - Now look at SWTOR which cost $250+ million between development, marketing, licensing and operational costs? Has it made its money back? It certainly brought in some revenues but not enough.

    - EA bought Playfish for $300 million in 2009 and that was basically money wasted.

    - EA bought Popcap for $750 million in 2011 with another $600 million in earn-out clauses to Popcap ownership...a potential $1.3 billion cost. This has fared better than Playfish but EA hasn't made its money back yet.

At the end of the day, people will nerdrage at EA all day long but given how many good people they employ, I really hope it gets better there and they put out better games (sports, shooters, rpgs, casual, mobile, etc. etc.) and ease off the bloodsucking microtransaction strategy everywhere (which they seem to be realizing is pissing people off anyway)

im only 10% in, but so far I am very pleased, minus some of the QTE's as has been said. I agree with Mazy that this appears to be a successful reboot. Will hold off further opinion until I'm more into the game.

Side note, but does this help ease the disappointment of A:CM? A least just little?

Only thing that I enjoyed about AC3 was the naval combat, so this seems like a really good move. If they could make this work in an open world setting then it could be pretty fantastic, the AC3 naval combat was pretty fantastic but also clearly very segmented, would probably take a fair amount of work to make it work seamlessly.

Oh and if they just cut out the Animus stuff entirely I'd be even more interested~

    This.

    LOL...

...and seems to be getting good early reviews? One indicator below however I have yet to read in depth on it, much less play it.

    edit:

I emphasize these are EARLY reviews and not many of them so far. Interesting take on the reviews thus far here:

T'is the yarrest AC yet, ye sea dogs.

Still, the naval combat in AC III seemed to be popular so maybe that will be a big feature in this as yet unconfirmed title from Ubisoft.

So Gaikai --> "PS Cloud Service" but it isn't all ready yet...anticipating nerdrage in 3...2...1...

Last minute thought before the announcement...

    1) In the past Sony has made some noise about patents/tech etc. that would allow a PS3 disc to be associated to only one console, or theoretically one PS account.

    2) Sony buys Gaikai, does nothing with it until...

3)...leaks emerge around Gaikai tech to be used on the PS4 to stream PS3 games to be Sony's "solution" for PS3 backwards compatibility on the PS4...

    4) ...hence many gamers start to wonder if the PS3 games they already own will be playable on the PS4 via streaming tech if they somehow pay for the service. They conclude that Sony would be trying to get them to pay more for the games they already own. Silly, but such is how the minds of some on the Internet work.

    5) Now...suppose Sony isn't that misguided and instead combines the tech and allows you to (a) insert your PS3 disc into your PS4 and (b) PS4 then "attaches" that PS3 disc to your PS account and PS4 hardware and © you are then allowed to stream said PS3 game using Gaikai tech through said PS4 and (d) said PS3 disc can no longer be "attached" to another PS4 (or perhaps rendered unplayable playable on another PS3?) until you "dis-attach" said PS3 disc.

    Omg...I'm totally tinfoiling now.

still it's not 599$ - this was launch price in US right ?

The high end PS3 US launch price, yes. Low end was $500.

This time, launch in the US with a starting price beginning with a 3 or 4 is perceived as what Sony needs to do, though $499 in this economy will definitely hurt compared to $399 or even $449. ...man i could talk for hours on this. I'm so curious exactly what they'll talk about tomorrow though I fear it will be mostly hardware specs related. Prove me wrong, Sony. Tell me about pricing, services, release date, exact launch lineup, etc. Cut the PS3 price either now or by E3 while your at it...just because.

Edit...damn you HP for beating me. Damn you to helllllll!

I really hope this lives up to the hype.
