I don't know exactly what date they are trying to hit but they are working hard to get it all wrapped up and polished.

speaking of co-op, Left 4 Dead is going to be a load of fun. I got to playtest it for a few hours this week and fans of co-op and/or fans of zombies/survival horror are going to be extremely pleased.

I've never really been able to get used a wacom for the type of work I do. I do use a very high resolution mouse though that I "paint" with.

if I was doing something more akin to painting I would probably learn to use one.

  • 3d Studio vs Maya (for game development)

I don't know, maya has a lot of pro's for games too. A lot of studios utilize melscript to integrate maya into their pipeline. I would say out of all the studios I have seen / interviewed / seen job postings for, it's been about a 50/50 split between max and maya.

I heard a rumor that max and maya were going to be merged after a few more versions . . . confirm/deny?

    it was for concrete games.

I wasn't instructed not to overlap, but thats the way I did it because I figured it was neccesary for the ambient occlusion map to be the most accurate. Otherwise why have the map separate, you could just bake it into the diffuse.

thanks. I think I actually did pretty well on the test, when I went in to interview some of the level guys I met with mentioned they had liked it. I'm still not sure why I didn't end up with the job, it seemed like a good match to me. Seemed like a pretty cool place generally and I have a buddy there, so I hope they find the people they need.

I tried for like 15 minutes to render out a wire but I'm retarded and they make it hard to do in maya. I'll give it another try when it's not so late at night. It's not that impressive as a wire really, a lot of flat surfaces.
