  • They Wonder Why People Don't Make PC Games Any More

    Another pro-PC article. http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=160866

awesome article, I agree with it 100%

*edit* This part especially is something I have been talking about for the last few years as an area that PC games must embrace, and something that most cross platform "traditional" games are failing to do on the PC.

At its heart, he explains, is a shift from viewing games as a physical product, to viewing them as a service - something that is also happening in other entertainment media. Digital distribution is part of that; more fluid and varied forms of game development, with games that change and engage their communities of players over time, are another; as is, naturally, the persistence and subscription (or otherwise) revenues of MMO games. None of this is reflected in the sales charts analysts, executives - and gamers - obsess over.

Most all of the games I play were developed with a considerably smaller budget. I would wager that 75% of all the money they spend on those type of games go to developing bits I really don't care about.

Thanks for the confidence Furyo This has turned into the most personally important creative thing I have ever started, and I am going to use every bone in my body to make sure it gets finished the way we envision it.

This morning I woke up and realized we had no 4th of July themed hat, so I took care of that

Also, a very enthusiastic Zero Gear fan (ok, my wonderful girlfriend) decided to make an entirely physical version of our sock monkey character, complete with a Zero Gear butt-label! Awesome!!!

yea, a pirate ship would be ace. I am not sure how the sail would work, you can't have it obscuring the view of the player. I find a lot of awesome ideas by looking up vinyl toys on flickr. Wouldn't it be awesome to have some Zero Gear vinyl toys! I wonder how much it would cost to have some made . . .

finally figured out that the issues of that 3dWorld magazine come out an entire month behind the UK, so we won't get it here until next month.

anyway, lots of things done while mapcore has been down.

the horizontal stripes are too perfect, they need to conform to the knitting better

the texture scaling on the tail looks weird

the mouth line should look more stitched in

    sorry, cool though

yea, those are the same issues I have with it too. I will see how much I can fiddle with it when I prep it for the game, otherwise it will have to remain imperfect for time's sake.
