hahaha AoC Im surprised aoc didnt sink the funcom ship.

    This news was released today:

    http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/f ... -workforce

This seems to tie in with a bigger relocation plan to move most of its workforce to Montréal, so there might not be any Funcom in Norway soon enough

P.S. Sorry to keep bringing up AoC/Funcom in this thread, but I figured this fits into the discussion and doesn't really deserve its own thread.

Yea I know, why make another counter-terrorism game? Now if it had the "Counter-Strike" tag on the box, it would sell millions by default (and probably have more than one publisher willing to market the game for a share of the profits, thus enforcing the effect). Oh well, I guess this is more about somebody making their dream game, than creating as much revenue as possible (not that he had the option to begin with, now that CS belongs to Valve and he quit that job, just saying..) and who knows - could be a really fun game! Minh knew what he was doing when he created CS after all

First details on Minh Le's game that he has been tinkering on for ages and that I've completely forgotten about (seems like a release is near):

changing it radically would also piss off the already narrow minded die hard ns-fans, like the resource tower-drama earlier this year

I might have come off a bit negative there, dont get me wrong; its a game worthy of the 50$ i payed for it, its just not... as good as wow.

hmm I'm not so convinced yet from what I've seen and read. Spending 50 € on this just to check it out seems a bit much, I'll wait for a trial, free weekend or something. Instead I picked up "Age of Conan" - now before you jump in and tell me what a waste of money this was, let me say that it's part of the green pepper budget title collection now and cost me "6,99 €", that includes 30 days of free playing. Can't go wrong with this, even if it sucks...costs about as much as a cinema ticket by now Who knows, from what I've read it had lots of potential at launch but was still rough in many aspects. Maybe all these updates I am downloading as I write this fixed some of that...

Edit: 1,83 GB?? Oh come on....

Crysis Nanosuit is hideous, give me bulky space marines over it any day.

Not meaning to throw gas into the fire, can't please everyone, but for what it's worth, a panel of international experts on design disagrees.

Aion has been released in the west after one year of its Korean release. Has anybody played the beta, or purchased the full game yet? Any details on what to expect? Opinions?

Important to note that despite the MMO features there's no sub fee for APB.

Sort of an online PVP Crackdown, a "cops vs criminals" MMO. Technically it isn't exactly an MMO, there can be up to 10.000 people playing at the same time on a server, but "only" 100 in each district (or 250 in "social" districts, these are districts where combat is restricted I suppose). It is being developed by Realtime Worlds and published by EA Partners. Commiting felonies in a gang or chasing the bad guys and getting them into jail - sounds simple, but also lots of fun to me! Maybe Defrag can fill us in on some details

Just grabbed the demo from Steam and played it, I think the hype is justified. Looks like this game just put a new top European studio on the map, they know what they are doing! Only question left to me now is whether I should pick it up first thing tomorrow morning or wait another week for the PC version to hit...
