Finally saw it last night. I had high expectations after reading some of the comments here and quotes from critics, it was GOOD but I can't quite share the enthusiasm by the folks on that avatar board (sheesh lol that is a gold mine for psychologists). I didn't really connect with any of the characters
Quotefor example when the Na'avi tied up Jake and ignored his warnings I actually started to root for the mercenaries. Call me apathatic but boy that made them look stupid, especially after their tree burnt down.
But I can see why others, especially younger audiences really click with the universe and the messages. I think the technology really helped in this case, the characters looked amazingly real. Speaking of which, does anybody have a good ressource with information on how they did it? On the mocap process and in particular the facial animations? The environments looked great too and it was also the first time I've watched a full-length movie in 3D. I've spent money on watching worse movies for sure!
