Hold on a second...did Nexus just frown upon somebody for his English?
-
Considering that you didn't only start on the map 3 weeks ago but also on mapping in general it's looking quite good, keep it up

It's looking how cs_italy should have looked like. At least quality wise.

imo MOH:PA shadow engine is better then source, mest becouse the player cant se its one shadow(aswell as model) and dont have an "dynamic" shadow that is affekted by all the lights in the map like props an brushes do.
I thought you were being sarcastic in your previous post. MOH:PA's "shadow engine" is a heavily specced up Q3 engine, it is as pretty as it gets with that engine. I finished the game and it got some really nice effects, the whole pearl harbour scene was amazing but the visuals of the islands? The jungles were narrowed in by "vegetation walls", brushes with vegetation textures on and anything else but open spaced. They were really ugly man, I think hl2 can do better than that.

The jungle wouldn't work out, unless you build it as a flat wall with a jungle texture on it but dense vegetation as in models wouldn't work on such a scale.
I'm wondering how good someone can make a jungle with the hl2 engine

As for the other stuff, the terrain could be done with triangles and all the props could be modeled. But then again you have those big trees in the map and some of those small objects look pretty detailed...I would probably lay down the terain and build the building and then see how many polies I got to spare, but overall since the map looks rather small it's nothing impossible.

Yea looking very promising. Nice, solid architecture which isn't cramped with props and isn't overly complicated. Some people try too hard to fill their maps with as many pretty props and effects as possible and end up with shitty gameplay and performance issues.
-
Oh, I thought the rest of the team was gonna do something...oh well...
-
Yea doesn't look amazing, but the gameplay sounds interesting
-
Won't TS go source?

Army Threatens Punks [January 12, 2005, 9:29 pm EST] - 56 CommentsOperation Punk Buster Continues is a post to the America's Army forums (thanks Slashdot) discussing cheating, PunkBuster countermeasures, ending with some threats:
Some of you (and clearly the bad guys are among them) don’t always remember that this game, and all accounts and derivative products, are the property of the United States Army. When you tamper with the game, not only are you breaking the EULA you’re misusing Army property – and, worse, you’re misusing US Army computer programs and equipment.
Tampering with software and servers owned or used by the Army is cyber crime.
In the early 1940’s, Japan learned an important lesson – “let the sleeping giant lie.” We may not react swiftly, but when we do it’s with unstoppable force. The Army has partners that deal with cyber crime as a matter of course. These include not just various Army IT departments, but also the Department of Justice, the Secret Service, and the Federal Bureau of Investigations.
It’s going to get uncomfortable for some of the bad guys, but you know what? They brought it on themselves. Knowing this anyone who continues to be bad is just plain foolish. Keep trying, though. Sooner or later the bad guy will realize we’ve known about him for a while… and by then it’s too late.
Allow me to speak directly to the bad guys for a moment: When you get banned, know that we know and have records showing you were doing something that’s a violation of terms of service, breaks your EULA, and also happens to be against the law. We know who you are, and can track down where you play from. We have incontrovertible proof you did something illegal. The Army is angry, and we’re coming for you.
