The last minutes of the match were really exciting, the goal was overdue imo.

I was quite surprised about Spain's 4:0 against the Ukraine, they barely qualified and start like this, impressive!

Let's see how Ecuador plays today, and of course England vs Trinidad & Tobago as well as Sweden vs Paraguay. Sweden won't have it easy getting to the second round this year.

Cool to see many people who have been active in the (hl) mapping community for a while to get jobs in studios.

    Congrats!!

Brazil didn't play a very convincing match, I'm curious if the coach will keep Ronaldo in the starting squad. Kinda hard after his match last night and when you have people like Robinho sitting on the bench.

Croatia's defense was ace, but they really didn't know what to do to score a goal.

    GERMANY!!!

I was thinking last night that it's strange we don't have a WC thread yet. Well, good that we have one now!

Everyone here in Deutschland is really crazy about the cup, not only the Germans but of course also the fans from all the other countries visiting.

It was actually quite fun to watch the English fans in Frankfurt last Saturday, although everyone was afraid they will start a riot

PS. Planetside is awesome, I recommend it to everyone

It IS a very cool game, are people still playing it? I also had one of the best gaming moments in Planetside.

My squad and me geared up in our fractions main base, 9 or 10 players, consisting of one Galaxy (big ass transport ship) carrying most of the squad members and a ground vehicle, accompanied by me in a reaver (fast air vehicle, like a vtol sort of) and a 2nd reaver.

We cross the gate to teleport to the continent our destination target is on. Arriving on the continent, we leave the protection sphere around the gate (there is a bubble around each gate so people don't spawn camp), shortly afterwards an enemy reaver is flying towards us, almost bumping into us.

We get engaged in a short air battle, the enemy reaver realizes it doesn't stand a chance against 2 and flies into the bubble. I don't need to mention that no weapons can be fired inside the bubble and bullets/missiles don't go through either.

Our galaxy drops off our squad right outside of the bubble, everybody points his guns towards the enemy reaver, including me and the other reaver, while the enemy is hovering up and down 10 meters away, probably laughing at us because we can't kill him.

However he was not aware that our galaxy pilot flew a big turn after dropping off the squad, right into the bubble and approached from behind. The galaxy crashes into the Reaver and leaves nothing left of it but debris and dust raining down. The picture of the enemy reaver hovering in front of me and that big galaxy crashing into it from behind was just classic.

He certainly didn't see that one coming

We laughed our butts off and continued our travel.

I'd rather be a low level prop churning artist than not work on games. Its my passion and even at later "levels" i'd still love what I'm doing.

So you mean, that when you are - let's say - 40 years old and you are still a junior artist and receive an according salary, you put a lot of effort and (over)time into your work, all that will keep you going on as enthusiastic as on the first day is a smile and a pat on the back? Noble indeed.

A problem in the games industry is that there are plenty of people like us who would die for making their hobby as a living and develop games. This means that the tolerance threshold for overtime is very high and salaries become a secondary priority.

This makes it very easy for companies to hire you, burn you out and replace you for a few bucks.

It's not all bad though. Since the industry is rather young, the game developers who have been around since the beginning now start to get old (they get a small house in a suburb of dallas, a wife and a couple of kids, a dog etc.) and company policies start to change.

It is not cool anymore to pull all-nighters with your buddies in the bunker when you could have barbecue with your neighbour instead (who comes home from work at 5 and earns twice as much as you do because he got a job in the council of an insurance company...).

That is more of a slow process though, till then I recommend to not pricedump yourself. I agree with Andrew, you should do what you like to do, but not under all conditions, because it will hurt others and it will hurt you.

It's time once again to clean the twin ballers, make sure that double Windsor knot is tight, and polish that chrome dome. Hitman: Blood Money, starring the very professional and very bald Agent 47, has gone gold and will hit store shelves on May 30. In Blood Money, the series makes its next-gen debut on the Xbox 360, and it will also be released on the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PC.PC gamers who can't wait until May 30 to string some fiber wire around an unsuspecting target's neck won't have to. A demo of the game will premiere on GameSpot on Monday, May 22, at 9 a.m. PDT.

I can't believe Maz hasn't posted a thread about this yet!! Congrats man

I'll certainly check out the demo, much loef for the hitman~~~

Propaganda Games is the Vancouver division of Disney Interactive so they aren't noobs. Sounds like the game is still in pre-prod, hence the "weak" demo. You can probably expect more for next years E3..

They are trying to build up a hype around something which is right now close to...well, nothing. I'm just not a big fan of these premature marketing campaigns, mostly, because they distract from games which are much further in development today
