Yep, there have been occasions where people come on IRC to asking about the server not sending any activation mails to them.. and also i think there isn't any way to contact admins in case of such problems.

I'm more than sure our friendly IRC channel staff helped them out to fix the problem!

    Well here we go! Welcome

Here's a map I started working on a few days ago, it's supposed to be for L4D but until that's released I'm making a smaller version for CS:S. This part is an abandoned tourist cable car station in Mt Kumotori, I've no idea what else is up there but I'm just using photos from this site as a reference and putting it all together. This is what I've got so far anyway, the platforms in the background are just there to snipe the bots from for now, there'll be a forest there eventually:

Super cool, fresh setting, I hope you'll finish it

Why don't you just wait for EA SKATE and test that out for me? Hopefully it's a bit more realistic.

Why don't you try it yourself or read reviews.

always nice to have a good portfolio

Err that's what I mean - this won't be of any use for a portfolio. Neither for a career as artist, designer or for applying at a serious MOD team.

I am playing "Tony Hawk - Project 8" on 360 these days.

The last Tony Hawk I played was THPS 2 on my PC (with a gamepad though). I'm not sure if there is enough reason to buy it if you own many of its predecessors (it's similar to the FIFA/NBA/.. series with a new one coming out pretty much every year) but I am having a blast. Such a big world, no loading times, I don't have to shoot people to beat the game - so relaxing and addictive at the same time

I think your time would be better spent creating the scene with a 3D modeling package OR incorporating this into a playable level, because otherwise it is solely created for the purpose of fancy screenshots..not sure how far this will get you.

But hey if you just do it for fun go knock yourself out

Miller's concerns are all valid but, I think, most of his public flames

towards Steam are because he is bitter because of Triton's failure.

I think that is true in a way, at least in the sense that Valve is doing better business than 3D Realms nowadays. Handing cash to one of your biggest competitors is twice as painful then.

Comments about why Valve is better than 3D Realms or about how long DN Forever is in development don't really add anything to the point discussed though.

You learn LUA one time, you learn LUA for all times There are various other projects (including game engines) who use LUA for scripting.

Including Cryengine, but scripting tools like Kismet and Cryengine 2's "flowgraph" are much more designer friendly than editing text files, it is much more "visual" From making AI go from point A to point B to more complicated sequences and game logic. I even think programmers will start to appreciate such tools soon as well
