wow that's quite irritating to watch, I don't wanna be in those guys shoes (neither in those of the pilots nor those of the friendlies).

As the pilot said on the tape - there clearly was miscommunication between what the controller said and what the pilots saw, but I'd be interested to know how easily one could take those tanks for orange rockets from up there

Good that they aborted that artillery strike on time

It crashed on me as well....and broke my 360. Waiting for Xbox support to send me a box so I can get it repaired/replaced :GSucks, hope I'll get it back in time for the full version of Crackdown though.

eer I will wait for the full version too then

Your point is one I agree with almost entirely, but I just thought I'd mention that its complately at odds with why I got my job. I was hired due to being a programmer AND a designer, and having good knowledge (if not necessarily ability) in all areas of game development. I'd say this is not gonna be the case for 90% of people out there - most companies are in need of somebody with a specific job in mind - but as I joined a small company the scenario wasn't quite the same.

Yea as I said "most big projects". How big is Outerlight and how long did the development on the ship take? Beside the fact that it's a great game, it's probably not your typical "triple A" title. Both in size and expenses, so small projects/companies are definitely an exception to the case. The more complex the next games become, the more people need to be hired, the more specialized their fields of expertise will get though

ferret, may I ask if you actively model/texture a lot of stuff in your levels?

Furyo, I see this happening more and more too. There is a reason why Crytek recently opened up a studio in Kiev - mainly for outsourcing purposes.

I just hooked up my 360 to the net and also got access to the wonderful world of game demos and unicorns now, but I can't spot "Crackdown" anywhere on the list

Is this some silly German regulation crap or does anyone else not see it anymore

The only advise I can give you is that being a specialist in one area (art, design, programming ...) and specializing even further in that field (, character art, multiplayer design, network code ...) will give you better chances to get hired than becoming that "jack of all trades".

I think the idea to "aquire as many skills in different areas of game development because this is the best way to increase your chances on getting hired" is inadequate for most big projects nowadays.

Mega Drive hm...none of my friends had a megadrive, I did have an SNES my own though. I got it for one of my birthdays (I dont remember exactly which) with "Super Soccer". That was quickly followed by Street Fighter II Turbo.

That is really a long time ago, I don't even quite remember all the games I had. I just know tht I sold all of it for a ridiculously low price at a local free market

From the top of my head I remember having Battletoads (how stupid was that level where you had to ride through a brain or something, I remember that being extremely hard), Secret of Mana (also pretty hard or I just sucked at games back then), Dark Water (that was an AWESOME coop game!), Mega Man X (good fun), Super Mario Kart of course, a friend of mine had Turtles lost in time which was great too (just like the NES Turtles games). Other than that I feel like the N64 totally erased my memories of the SNES which is a pitty, it was a great system.

I wish they would just get over it and officially cancel it. These posts and so called "in game screenshots" that get the fanboys at shacknews and where else all excited is downright ridiculous. No offense, in 2001 that trailer was cool, but today I couldn't care less anymore.

This whole thing looks more like a desperate attempt to get possible new employees interested in the project, I don't mind being proven wrong though.
