It was a majority decision among the moderators, following a series of ruthless behavior despite plenty of warnings. I also told him that on IRC after he contacted me about it the same evening.

A couple of days passed between the last report of bad behavior, the decision to ban him and the actual ban, this is maybe why Rick was puzzled for what he got banned. Also the fact that his IP got banned and he couldn't access the PM sent by the admin is unfortunate. But as I said, me and other mods talked to him on IRC. Also it is a temporary ban.

That is the player's name (delta force nickname) in Crysis.

I think it derives from CryEngine but is so heavily modified, you can't really call it that anymore.

Think Quake 1 engine and Half-Life.

In combination with the excavator and the dragons this leaves quite some room for speculation regarding plot and game world...

Back then, I also thought Statham would be the best/obvious choice, but now I'm also thinking that it might have hurt the movie in the end, despite Statham's popularity. The guy is branded by the Transporter movies and Crank, where he already played the ruthless "gun to hire", so I have nothing against having a "fresh" actor fill the role of 47, unless his acting is complete rubbish obviously

I kinda like the idea with the apostate religious order, that created 47 to fight the "real evil", in a twisted, cheezy way...I don't think that was a topic in the hitman games. It was always a mysterious business organization giving him the orders (or "jobs") wasn't it?

Alright, this thread is for discussion about Halo 3. Please keep both the fanboy-ism as well as flaming on a low.

It is almost end of august and the release is still slated for end of september. That leaves roughly a month to produce about three gazillion units, yet there is no gold announcement yet.

Also where is the singleplayer media blitz? All I see or hear about the game is multiplayer related. Sure there was the SP trailer at E3 this year, but what about more gameplay footage? I just saw 25 seconds of a shaky cam video, captured at a GC behind closed doors event, but that's pretty much it.

There must be more to see of the game at GC or (please post if you come across any)? Also - no nomination at GC? Ouch.

How's the music?

I was genuinely interested in the program after its first public demonstration, but having watched a bunch of footage, my early excitement is clouded by the question as to what there is actually to do. Or rather - what is there to do that you cannot do in real life?

You run around with your virtual avatar, that you can dress, in your virtual appartment/house, which you can decorate virtually, where you can have virtual BBQs with other people's virtual characters and watch movie trailers on a virtual TV or in a virtual theater.

It just makes me worried that the concept of the matrix might become true one day and Sony makes us all to their batteries..

Cool to hear him talk so openly about the important role that marketing played to sell GoW. Not saying GoW wouldn't have sold a lot without Microsoft pushing it, but definitely not nearly as much. I think Microsoft really outdid themselves there (not just meaning Lindsay Lohan at the launch party.. ), but they needed a strong seller for their console anyway, so good timing on both sides.

What do you think - how important is marketing to sell a game?

Hey Darth_Brush - that looks f'kin stellar!

Looking at it, I can't help but be reminded of Bioshock, which is weird because the setting is completely different. I think this is a) because the game is omnipresent these days or b) because of the choice of colours and the way the scene is lit, with hazy lightbeams shining at big structures in front of a dark/blueish background. Either way, looks really great
