Woah 7 pages, that was fast

It does that, but not reliably. That means the database is corrupted every now and then and this makes every management very nervous after a while.

I haven't played the Crysis demo myself yet, so I can't say what changes have been done to the game in the 2 months of development that I was abscent, but I can assure you none of the videos put out by Crytek/EA have been modified whatsoever. They have always been taken straight from the game, hell, if you look at the first Gamespot video, that's how it was shown to the public at E3 in 2006 on the floor.
The screenshot from your first post compares an in-motion/action shot from one of the tech demos with a screnshot from the game's SP demo that lacks all specular. That's why the leaves and the lighting looks so bland and the rifle like plastic. Until I got a decent enough machine to play it I can't tell you why that is, right now I suspect it is just a badly lit space. The problem is that instead of just having to choose optimal lighting settings for the little scene in a demo, you need to find good settings for a huge landscape. Then multiply this by X if the sun moves during the course of the mission (from night to full day for example). Some spots might look better than others.
On the screenshot it looks like the plants are in the shadow, that's why they don't receive any specular, same for the gun.
Still the gun looks surprisingly bright, maybe they added a hack so you never see a pitch black weapon but that would be quite drastic...I can ask some crytekkies, maybe they know.

XBOX 360:

Metacritic is currently at 95%. It got a stunning 94% from gametrailers, congrats IW!

On Crysis we worked half the project using Alienbrain and then made the switch to perforce. Although I thought that Alienbrain is more artist/designer friendly, it does seem to be less secure and that's one of the fundamental features of a source control program. If it doesn't back up your files reliably, it's useless.

From what I understand the game has officially been launched and is available for everyone to purchase now.
I watched the trailers and richard garriots closed beta walkthrough which is roughly 30 mins long in total, but that wasn't too exciting. Even if the game itself is great, imagine somebody playing WoW and somebody else talking about what you see on screen for half an hour...
I know Zyndrome has played the beta and now bought the game, anyone else here who has an opinion on it? What is it like? How does it compare to other MMOs? Worth buying?

Interesting, keep 'em coming!

Quote from Thrik
The 8800 GT the guys above are talking about, based on the new G92 chip that's basically a more efficient chip and thus allows them to squeeze more out of roughly the same price point as the GTS.It's generally assumed this is all we're getting and that the GeForce 9s will be next year, seeing as NVIDIA have got such a powerful card that still leads the pack.
If that is true, I can get going on my new rig too, because I decided to wait for the new cards that were supposed to be released by the time Crysis ships.

Ironman is captured by al quaida and then escapes by building some ridiculous looking armor that could be taken straight from Dr. Who.
Then I guess he builds up on that until he can fly around in the cool, shiny armor we all know from the comics.
I think we need some new super heroes, because by the speed Hollywood is plowing through them, we will run out of material very soon!

Gorgeous animations, seamless cuts, pulls you right in. Gives the watcher a good overview of the existing games and application palette the PS3 offers. Not saying that's a whole lot so far, but Drake's Fortune and Ratchet&Clank should be nice.
What's wrong with the 399$? Gets closer to the 360 price and is much better than the 599 or whatever it was before.
