I agree with some of the nitpicking. Rougher weather for atmosphere might have been nice and the towers on the bridge look odd/very small, but I think that's due to the view the shot was taken from and the huge size of the bridge (gotta check out how it looks in game). Minor corrections/more detail on broken walls here and there, fine, but I think the amount of effort put into this is still under appreciated (looking at the replies). Just look at the provided selection of screens and realize how much custom content was made for this.

The facades along the streets look great (love the rooftops and the cable cars on the streets) and the riverside is especially amazing. Not to mention the frickin' cathedral of course!

I hope the map will be released soon, one way or another!

"Find out who the whole marketing team is at the publisher," Lanning said. "Take them out for martinis and a killer night, or even pay to fly them out to Hawaii or something. Then sit around and ask them what is it that they would like to sell. What is it you would feel comfortable selling? What kind of game would you back in a second? And then once you have all that information, go home and design a game and go pitch it to that publisher. That's the best way to get a game pitched and approved today."

That film does a pretty good job at painting "the big picture". At first when she was raving about breast feeding and the toxins in mother milk I thought " " but the vicious circle of consuming was interesting (albeit not new to me). Thanks for sharing!

No I (for one) completely understand you Bic and I also find it a tad annoying, but on the other hand I think it's one of those things that you get used to really quickly. At least that's how it is with me after doing it for a week.

20$ for PopCap games? I know Peggle has been priced at 10$ for several months (or when we are talking about prices and psychology I should better be exact and write "9.95"$). Checking their site I also see that they got this "50% off on all games" event going until the end of the year, which means all games are 9.95$. Are you sure the 20$ aren't just a marketing trick to create the illusion you are saving money? Dell is a different company that comes to my mind which uses such practices.

Interesting discussion, I think the first thing I would do is play the demo and then decide whether the 30$ price is justified. Although it costs less than the new games you find on retailer's shelves and the longer I think about it, the more I think the price is fair, but on first glance, just looking at the videos and screenshots, it makes me also feel it is overpriced. Maybe because it uses "old technology" and the complexity of the game isn't visible at first glance. It looks like a game of an older generation - not "state of the art" or on par with new games and thus inferior and should be priced according to "bargain bin" prices. Or it's a game with the dimensions of a Popcap game, which would also mean it is overpriced.

Makes you realize how much we are blended by technology and marketing.

I can't say I've spent any New Year's Eve in Paris, I only went like 4 times for a few days and didn't visit much party places (I was either 11 years old, or there for a funeral ).While I can't give you any advices, I might be able to look into it for you (seeing as french people are lazy/uneducated and rarely translate anything to english). I found that website which lists a lot of parties planned for NYE but they vary from free cool pubs to expensive restaurant/dancing to nightclubs. What type of party would you be more interested into? What budget do you have? Would you rather eat well, drink a lot, dance, etc.?

I also have a friend who lives close to Paris and might know about good places, I'll see if I can catch him online.
