Had it preordered for 360 but ended up changing it to PC. Probably gonna go PC with most games until the new consoles hit.

It says that it'll unlock at 18:00 on the 26th tho, hope that's an error :G

Battlefield is a multiplayer game first and foremost, but for what it's worth then I enjoyed the SP in BF3 a lot more than any of the last 3-4 COD games, which is what they're competing with.

Missions like those are super scripted, but so are some of COD's best moments. Wouldn't mind if DICE went a bit more back to the slightly sandboxy feel of Bad Company's SP, or mixed these together a bit.

I'm just happy if it doesn't place in a primarily middle eastern setting. Going back to China ala BF2 would be sweet~

For what metacritic is worth: http://www.metacritic.com/feature/game-p…r-2012-releases

There's just a lot of badmouthing going on but what's new, shit's always the stuff that sticks the longest. You barely hear a single positive thing about EA anymore so no surprise people forget about those things immediately. I won't say it's completely undeserved but EA sure has been the scapegoat lately. Not entirely sure of the impact SWTOR had but that probably must've been a huge downer indeed, amongst others (warfighter, although I've heard it still sold somewhat decently).

I don't know much about shareholders, finances and commercial success and all that since it doesn't really concern me first-hand but from the little I've picked up I think he did a great job given the circumstances. The climate has been pretty tough the last few years but he did a great job in the change and brought in a lot of digital revenue like he said he would. I hope someone capable takes his place. I definitely think he's brought an improvement to EA. EA from before his era wasn't exactly spectacular...

He was on that rumored list of CEO's to get fired in 2013 so I definitely saw this one coming, probably was a lot of pressure from the board.

Again, you obviously can't solely blame this on him, but for better or worse then he's in large part accountable for any good or bad direction that the company takes. Supposedly this fiscal quarter's revenues are gonna be quite a bit under their projection, so this all seems like damage control to prevent the shares from sliding even further.

I actually wasn't aware that they're in the top in terms of reviews of 2012. Sure, there's games like ME3, FIFA and NFS:MW, but then there's also stuff like MOH:Warfighter, Syndicate, Kingdoms of Amaleur and Dead Space 3 (and I sadly suspect Crysis 3 will be on that list as well) that haven't exactly gotten completely slaughtered in reviews (okay, Warfighter doesn't count there), but have pretty much killed of their continued franchise prospects since it looks like they've been pretty far from return of investment.

It's not different from others, have a few cash cows (FIFA, BF, NFS) that pretty much generate the majority of the revenue, but my impression is that EA has had a lot of those in 2012, combined with SWTOR that is supposedly the most expensive game made to date, with their subscribers dwindling in size after the strong launch.

Anyway, I wish the best for EA, BF3 and NFS:MW are some of my favorite games of the last year, and I do think all this stuff with targeting EA is out of control, but they do make themselves pretty easy targets for hardcore gamers in a lot of cases with their raging hardons for micro-transations.

Not that surprising TBH, you can't solely blame it on him, but the trend of the last year or so has been that EA's games have under performed both in reviews and commercially, doubt shareholders are too happy about that. Even back with SWTOR, which was a big gamble that didn't pay out I expected it to have repercussions on Richitello.

Would be pretty great if Peter Moore steps up as the new CEO, always liked him (Dreamcast all the way baby!).

This is the next step of Kojima madness, after MGS2 with covering up who's the protagonist of the marketing of the game; covering up who's the Game Director.

Is that really a dark secret tho? Wasn't everyone expecting it to be a micro transaction jungle?

I'm done with the game, but I'm pretty interested in seeing how it'll look in 6-12 months, whether they'll be able to refine it and fix it up.

As with Wings of Liberty then they're pretty good at mixing things up to keep it somewhat fresh.

Hmm still trying to come to terms with the high level design choices of the game and accept the entire specialisation aspect. The idea of connecting cities and relying on coordinating your needs with other players is a neat idea, but the more I think about it the more it really feels like something that should be an alternative of playing, like co-op in most games, with the primary game being one large single player based city.

Tried playing SimCity 4 earlier today, just out of interest since it's been so long since I played it, which has plenty of things that I love and find missing in the new one. But it also feels so hopelessly outdated in it's tools, the information layers and the entire feel of the game after you've played they new one.

My point is that I love a lot of things about the new SimCity, the first couple of hours of building a city has never felt better, but the entire framing and idea of why you create your city isn't one of them, I'll pay big bucks for a XXXL City Size™ DLC pack and I'm a dinosaur that just want the same game over and over with better graphics

Been playing it for some 25 hours now, actually it's been really stable for me the last 2 days, but even when you get past all the server issues then it's probably my least favorite SimCity game.

I know all this co-op stuff is super trendy and sounds pretty neat on paper, but after having gone through 2 cities and absolutely maximised them with all the space you've got, and suddenly realising that you're missing loads of bits to make things function properly as the city grows, then it just feels like a super limiting game. All the core mechanics and feel of the game is brilliant, but it repeatedly feels like a cruel joke when you run out of space, and have to bulldoze most of your city or work together with other players to make things work, or start a new city just to serve a single purpose.

It probably wouldn't run on most PCs today, but if they doubled the size of cities it would be the best game in the series by a long shot, but everytime I load up one of my cities now it just feels very anticlimactic.

Fucking gorgeous game tho, the next iteration of this could be truly amazing if they expand the city sizes.

Gonna play it some more, but I kinda already feel like I've seen most of what it can provide :G~
