I'll admit that I might not have played 2142 enough to come with a thorough evaluation of it, however I played the demo enough, and tried the full game enough to know that I liked BF2 more. If 2142 couldn't get a hold of me in the time I gave it (which is about 3-4 hours) then I reckon its just not for me.

I have no problems with a sci-fi setting for a BF game, but I do have a problem with the sci-fi setting they made. The weapons, vehicles and general environments just didn't appeal to me (Altho, as I mentioned, the mechs were pretty cool).

Anyway, after all this talk I think I'll pop on a lil BF2 in the weekend.

Gah, I hated 2142, did nothing for me that BF2 didn't do a lot better. Altho the mechs are kinda cool then the overall feel of the game just felt too rushed especially in their vehicle designs, where as BF2 is pretty much perfect.

On a side note then I'm really interested in seeing where they're taking that series next (apart from Bad Company). If they're gonna stick with the modern warfare theme stuff

Hmmm, if anything then I'd rather load up BF2 again and give that a spin, or wait for it to be released (Not that I think my home computer can run it, with all them megatextures n shit D:)

I actually hadn't thought about that Frie. Unless you mention really broad topic then it probably can't help but be company specific issues, which in turn would be kinda unprofessional to mention in an open forum.

Think I'll sit this one out instead ;D

If you are a fan who is adamantly against some significant changes to the way gameplay occurs in the Fallout series, I’m going to tell you right now and save you the disappointment: I don’t think you’ll like Fallout 3. However, if you’re a fan of the Fallout universe, of the unique look of the world, of the moral ambiguity, of the dark and often violent humor, and the invigorating branching story paths, then everything about what I’ve seen of Fallout 3 should please you.

In my opinion the best thing about the first two Fallout games was the game play, however I think it could become a pretty cool experience on its own terms. If you want the old stuff and dig the old game play theres probably nothing else to do than play the old games again (or wait for the inevitable fan made Fallout 3).

The part about the dialogue is inexcusable though, the Oblivion dialogue system is so shit that I cant even begin to think of where to start. A horrible horrible mistake to keep that design.

Like others here, I'm kinda split about this as well. However part of me (the lazy and naive part) really don't care. I mean I'd definitely have to see what exactly they're basing the ban on to be able to justify it in any way, however a country like the UK really should be ahead enough to at least give people the option, even if it was bumped to 18+ or something like they're doing in the US.

Besides, Rockstar knows they're playing with fire when they make these kind of games and part of me kinda likes that for once they actually got burned a bit.

    Oh you and your books

I would be happy to participate, but its kinda late so I'll have to do it tomorrow tho.

Actually I'm quite interested in seeing what people are going to answer, I reckon that although some things are universally fucked (and blessed) in this industry, then theres still a lot of things that are different from place to place.

Hmm yeah, the battle stuff does sound kinda weird from what it says, but overall it also sounds like most of the game is gonna be as it should (Mmmm gory).

Really loved the first 3 seasons, and when it got back the 4th was great stuff as well. However at some point after they got back they just started going overboard with the quick pop culture references between the actual story line, and to me it just ended up being really exhausting to see. I mean I love the formula, but it just seemed like after they got back from being cancelled they tried to cater too much to the fans, and I just slowly couldn't enjoy the show anymore. You can only hear Peter say "You remember the time where I..." a few times in an episode before it gets really old

So I haven't seen it since some of the last episodes of season 4.

Might try and give it a chance again though, now that every series on the planet is taking a break :G

Finally did it...installed Fallout 2 again. Stayed up playing it to around 01:30, so damn addictive.

Too bad that I've specced my character all wrong, probably gonna restart now

Looks really good Term!nator525, really like the 2nd and 3rd shots.

Also looks good Psycho. At first it looked like A and B were a bit too close and like the lower right corner was slightly disconnected, but the stairs around B look like they're placed quite nicely. Its a good start anyway.

Meh, looks like most of those textures are just like a plain colour with a normal map with details on top. I mean it doesn't look bad, but this demo doesn't really show anything that I think isn't possibly with conventional technology.

Its an interesting idea, but I'm not sure that its as big of a deal as Carmack makes it sound. Kinda sad that my expectations of something from id Software are a mere shadow of what they were a few years ago. But I guess thats what you get when you don't want to expand your company.

Hopefully they'll show an actual game at E3 that'll be more impressive.
